welcome to the site

Please take time to check out the forum especially the thread titled Primer to working in the US. There are plenty of information about CA on this forum and even a thread especially for CA. If you do a search with the search facility and use keyword California I am sure you will find plenty.

You are currently affected by retrogression so suggest that you also have a read up on that as there are no visas at the moment plus plenty of other people in front of you. You can get your IELTS done but no need to do CGFNS exam as that is not required by CA.

We also have a great NCLEX forum which you can find by clicking the student tab near the top of the page.

Just noticed you have also applied to pearsonvue and to be honest that is a bit too soon as application is valid only for 12 months and if you have any delays then you will have to pay again. You really should have waited unil you had permission to sit NCLEX from the state board of nursing

thanks for replying...

after posting this thread my friend called me and adviced me to visit www.rn.a.gov i have found the forms i needed to complete so i can be eligible to take the examination. i actually submitted the forms needed to be filled up by my school, my request for transcript, clinical experience, breakdown of nursing program, authenticated diploma, and verification of nursing program, its now on process. i just have to get those documents on september 12, 2007.

im just wondering where can i get a finger print card that i have to fill up? do i have to send my application form and fee first on the California BON...

am i on the right track? kindly reply because im going to pay another 107$ to the BON of Cali for this.i just can't afford doing another mistake, like being so soon to apply for nclex in pearsonvue.

by the way i haven't get my license, since my schedule for registration will be on september 25, 2007...

Am a little bit confused. Are you saying you have booked NCLEX for the end of September? Going through the process and getting the OK to sit NCLEX takes atleast 4 months sometimes longer sometimes a little bit shorter but not often. Have you recieved your ATT from pearsonvue?

CA will send you your fingerprint cards and details can be found on their website

nope... i applied in pearsonvue, have paid 200$ for Nclex-rn last september 1, 2007.... so i still have 362 days open for submitting requirements in California BON... i have requested for fingerprint card, can i just ask how long will it take for me to receive the fingerprint card? and also, where can i get it done once i receive it? last question.... what about the ssn?

help... im reading a lot of threads here that advice to take vermont BON instead of california, is this the only way i can do so my 200$ will not be forfeited since most of you said that releasing of eligibility in vermont is faster than california??? i already processed my tor, clinical experience certification, course description etc. in my school... it's now on process... what will i do next??? help me please...

it took me 4 mos to receive my eligibility, send all the required documents as soon as possible, if you know someone who already applied for NCLEX under CABRN, you may ask them if they still have an extra FP card (waiting for the requested FP card from CABRN may take a month or more to receive thru mail), have it done in NBI carriedo if you are living around metro manila (do not fold, inform the personel that it is for NCLEX) and send it together with the application form, fee, and other required documents. contact pearsonvue to schedule your exam as soon as you receive your eligibility letter. i advise you to start the review while waiting. it won't take you a year to sit for NCLEX!

There is a thread in the Philippines forum but think you can go to the US embassy for a fee for the fingerprints. SSN you leave blank as you will not get one until in the US with a valid work permit. You are still looking at approx 4 months to get the OK to sit the exam and that is if all your paperwork is ok and your courses accepted. With retrogression you are better applying to the state that you want to work. Regardless of where you got your initial license you will need to meet their requirements for foreign trained nurse even when endorsing. Remember that CA will not issue you with a hard license until you are in the US and provide a SSN. You are affected by retrogression at the moment and there is no idea on how long it will last, plenty of time to do it properly

regarding the ssn, just leave it blank. you'll get all the information you need in filling up the form and FP card in the downloadable pdf file, check the CABRN site.

thanks for your replies... i really appreciate it... by the way guys, my boyfriend and i had an argument about the cgfns, he's an immigrant but he is now completing his studies here in philippines... he told me to take cgfns first before nclex, because he don't believe me when i told him that cgfns is not required in california bon,,, his mother also told me the same thing... his mom is in maryland working as a nurse... so to stop the argument i just told them that after i receive my eligibility i will process the application for cgfns while waiting for my att in nclex... is my decission right?any suggestions? regarding the finger print card, is that true that i can get them in US embassy?

you are wasting money taking an exam which is not necessary. All you have to do is show them the CA BON website and show them the requirements. Don't think you can get them from the US embassy but sure there is a thread in the Philippine forum with all the information

If Im not mistaken, only 4 states need the CGFNS exam. If you go to california state board (http://www.rn.ca.gov/lic/pdf/exam_app_2004.pdf) , it is clearly highlighted in BOLD letters that CGFNS is not required there! after passing the NCLEX, you are eligible for a visa screen. Its redundant to take CGFNS and NCLEX, take NCLEX instead as CGFNS is almost obsolete.
