Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm currently taking "Clinical Calculations". It is required for ALL health programs- RTA, PTA, EMT, Nursing. It consists of dosage, drip rates, ped dosage, etc. We started this summer with 16 and we are down to 8. I have a 98% so far, but it is hard. Some of the people who dropped also dropped it last semester! I believe it may be one of the weed out classes- its required and difficult. We have homework due before every exam-this week I turned in 35 pages of problems!!

BTW- you must complete this class with a C or better to get into PHARMACOLOGY- a course that is not required but everyone takes BEFORE getting into NS, for the experience & the extra preference points! I'm taking it this fall- I'm sure we'll see the same drop rate. :specs: Keep studying!

OOOOOH poor Jerry! Pharm in the summer- that's too short! It's gotta be tough-hang in there!

Good luck everyone- let's all stick together- we'll make it!

I am taking Pharm this summer...good news is I am almost done. Only about 4 more weeks. Yipeee.

Gosh- I'm nervous about doing it in 16 weeks- you guys are brave to do it in 8!!

Hey okie2, well we didnt have a whole ot of choice in when we took it LOL. It's one of 2 classes, the other being health assesment, that you can take even though u may not be in the nursing program. I got health assesment out of the way bout 2 years ago, but was advised not to do the pharm until the semester between first and second year. I cant imagine having to do it in the fall along with med/surg II and those ever so intimidating care plans. The good thing is if we happen to fail pharm, we can still proceed with our second year, but would have to take it and pass it next summer. Sooooo who knows. BTW, I assume by your nic, ur in OK,, where if you dont mind me asking. In Texas here, just south of Lawton, OK.

Have A Great day and Be Safe

Jerry
