Relocate to Sunny California?????

Hello to all!

I am an RN in a level II NICU hospital located in west Texas. I am in a desperate need of change, I would like to relocate myself and my family to sunny California. Does anyone know of any good web sites or personal suggestions on a good place to call home? I was thinking San Franscisco, but I hear the cost of living is outrageous. Help anyone?

Think Northern California, not Southern. We are just as sunny here...

SF is not southern!!!

Yes, SF is expensive. There's a NICU in the central coast section, LIII, I think. There's a LI or II in San Luis Obispo at Sierra Vista Hospital.

Ooops. Taz is right! Lol. SF is...um....Central? Is it Central Valley, Taz? I'm in Sacramento...haven't paid much attention to points south of me for a long time!

No, it's considered northern. Sheesh.........water.......ocean......SF BAY.........nowhere near the valley!

Sorry Tazzi but those of us who live in the real Northern California, which means above Sacramento, don't consider San Francisco part of Northern CA. ;););) We consider it Central California.

Yuba City, Willows, Corning, Red Bluff, Redding, up in the mountains between Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen (where I live), Alturas, etc. That is Northern California. Actually there has been talk for years of breaking off from the rest of the state below Sac due to the differences in rural vs. city life.

As to NICU's . . . .Redding has Mercy Medical Center with a Level III NICU.

It is hot in the summer - over 100 degrees usually for a least a month. But Shasta Lake and Whiskeytown Lake are close by. Along with Mt. Shasta.

And very mild winters.

I love San Francisco, by the way. Just don't want to live there.

Aha! See! See!

Thought I was losing my mind (what little is left...) We here in Sacto have always thought of that part of the state as "Central California", or as the newscasters always say...."The Central Valley."

I don't know! That's how the weather guys always introduce it...."and here in the Central Valley..."(waves arm around the SF bay...) Just kinda got use to hearing that, I suppose.

Valley = plot of land with mountains on at least two sides.

Coastal = by the ocean
