Fortis College

U.S.A. Indiana

Hello. I am interested in attending Fortis for their RN program. Is there anyone that is in their program or graduated that could give me some feedback?

Specializes in NICU.

Only 2 students took NCLEX in 2012, both passed, 3 out of 5 (60%) took and passed in 2013. My class took a field trip to the monthly Indiana BON meeting in July and Fortis was there because of their NCLEX pass rate. I don't know why they have only had 7 students take NCLEX in Indiana for the last 2 years.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I suspect some of the lower-caliber students are being prevented from taking NCLEX by school officials, possibly due to failure of an exit exam that predicts NCLEX success. Thus, they probably enroll more people than they graduate.

B-I-N-G-O!! I agree and if that is the case, here we have so many students who have spent over $30-$40K on an Associate Degree and cannot get a degree or sit the boards/get licensed/get a Nursing Job. This is so ridiculous and appears as a scam to me. Why is the Federal Government allowing these institutions to exist, since it appears the students applying/attending these institutions cannot or will not do some basic research. The access to Pell Grant and Federal Student Loans are what are fueling the growth of these schools. Cut off access to Federal funding and they die a natural death. The problem I see, speaking to students who attend these schools, is that they don't have any knowledge of the amount of student loan they apply for or accumulated, since these schools handle the entire process. Not to mention the fact that most of these schools do not have the proper Nursing School accreditation.

I planned on going up there to do some research and ask some questions.

I went to check out the school. Wasn't impressed. They only have one clinical site but working on more. I didn't like how expensive it was and how you could be paying a monthly fee for education if you dont have enough. They said a lot of students are paying $200 a month.... yeah im cool. This school is my plan D
