Fort worth, tx CNA training?? Anyone else train here?

Published

I was wondering if there's anyone who is wanting to become a Cna? Maybe there is someone that can help me. Did anyone do there training in fort worth, tx? I've heard bad things about being a cna. Is it a good job, what is it like also??? Thank you, it would be greatly appreciated. This would only be my foot in the door, bc I want to be a RN. It's the only thing my mind is set on :)))

I am going to be doing my training at North Texas Career Institute. It's in S Ft Worth, off Seminary and Campus Drive. I was laid off in May and this school is affiliated with Texas Workforce Commission. It is going to the be the first step of many that lead to my RN. Where are you looking to attend?

Thank u for replying, That was one of my choices, I heard that they have scholarships and financial aid. Do you know if this is true?? If you do end up going there let me know how it is please. Are you going to do your prerequisites at tcc? For nursing.

Thank you, Tara.

They do offer scholarships and a payment plan where the tuition is broken into 3 payments. I am planning to start prereqs at TCC Northwest too. I am taking Chem 1406 and my Math requirement this semester. I only need the Sciences to apply and already have the English, Psyhs, and what not to graduate. So, I am 4 Science classes away from applying. I am thinking about taking AP1 and Micro together in the Spring then AP 2 in Summer. If so, I can apply for the Spring 13 nursing program instead of Fall 13.

Wow girl your almost there! Good for you & don't give up!!! Do you know what the psychology classes were like? I want to take them maybe this semester but I want to know what exactly it I'm learning. I don't wanna take too many hard classes at once, that way I can keep my gpa where it needs to be!!! Do you know if the scholarship is the entire amount? Bc I called a couple months ago & the tuition was 1000 I believe. I don't have that kind of money so I'll need financial aid for sure.

tuition is $1000 and the scholarship does cover it all. As far as the Psyhs go for TCC nursing prereqs....I think it's Psych 01, or something along that line. It's the basic psych. Then I think it's Human Growth and Lifespan OR a Communications class. I took the Communications class a few years back so this will fulfill. FYI.......the GPA matters but the most important thing is that it's STRAIGHT GPA on the 4 Science classes and your score on the HESI test. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS!!!! This is all that is looked at when you apply to the nursing program. It's INSANELY competitive and I am going to have a back up plan............just in case. When are you looking to start the CNA class?? There are only a few options left before year end.

Awesome! I hope I'm able to get the scholarship. Unfortunately, I will be starting maybe in october bc I just had a baby. I'm hoping they have sat classes soi can workout my transportation & childcare issues. The gpa thing is good to know, but wouldn't my grades in the classes other than science affect my overall gpa? I'm new to college so idk alot about how this stuff works. When are u starting the cna class? Yeah I've heard it's really hard to get into, but I'm not willing to give up! I want this bad!

Here's a list of schools in the area http://www.dads.state.tx.us/providers/NF/credentialing/NATCEP/credtraining.cfm?regionselect=03

I did my CNA program in Arlington off Cooper/California it was $595, 3 and a half weeks w/ 3 days of clinicals and you can put $200 down and pay the rest before the class is over or make a payment plan with them, includes scrubs and CPR, the program was dis-organized but still able to learn as far as the skills you need to do.. if you already have your CPR card you get $30 off

here's the place

I just took my state skills/written exam and passed.. the main instructor that teaches you the skills teaches you everything you need to know from front to back!

Thank you mgorvie :)

No problem! This is the cheapest one I've came across while I'll was calling a whole bunch of CNA schools close to me off that website so I would recommend it to anyone! It goes by so fast since it's basically only 3-4 weeks, you don't have to pay a grip to get it unlike some CNA schools! They have evening and morning classes, I took morning this summer it was 9:30-1 or 1:30
