So what's so great about FW as a city to work as a nurse?

As an LVN with 2 measly years of experience, I earn a higher pay rate than many RNs in other states by working in Fort Worth.

No, it hasn't gotten "bad" in Fort Worth. The city is actually rather safe when compared to other similarly-sized cities. I absolutely loathe negative misconceptions.

I live 12 minutes from the hospital district and my husband's office is nearby. Compared to 15 years ago - the area is vastly improved and I would not be scared to work there.

Thanks for re-opening this three-year-old discussion since it remains relevant to this day. I had totally forgotten about this thread. ;)

It's now 2011 and Fort Worth's population is close to 750,000.

I absolutely loved Fort Worth when I visited DFW several times! Mostly everyone was so friendly...strangers smiling, waving, and saying hello. Now, that's unheard of where I'm from! It was a pleasant culture shock for me. The downtown area, I believe Sundance Square, was very entertaining and safe! My friend and I was walking after midnight with our purses, and never got hassled or robbed. We felt very safe for the most part. But I can totally understand why people want to move to Fort Worth! I can't afford a house in a safe area in the city I currently live. But for about $100,000, I can buy a 3 bed 2 bath home in a relatively low-crime area.

I recently applied to JPS Hospital, and is keeping my fingers crossed on a job offer! I really want to move to Fort Worth!
