Who else out there is preparing to apply to either Wesleyan or TCU for 2008? I'm just preparing to sit for my CCRN (I have my CNRN that Wesleyan will accept but not TCU) & take my GRE. I know the deadline for TCU is October & Wesleyan has moved theirs up to Dec. 1. Not much time left. Anyone out there received any tips for admission?:uhoh21:

had one discouraging moment. was out in the hall surrounded by crna students, some of who i know. they all had 3.6 - 4.0 gpas. my heart sank. i was so dissapointed. my lil ole 3.24 may not compete. secure feeling has left the building....:o

don't feel discouraged, friend. not everyone who gets into na school had nerd averages in undergrad ..... you have read the old threads: some peeps get into school with 3.0 averages .... and some people tend to "exagerate" about their stats when in a large groups to make themselves feel smarter (especially if no one is checking what they say with their transcripts). i am not saying this was the situation, but just something to think about. take everything with a grain of skepticism. don't stress over it. you (we) will make it :trout:

Shadowed today. Learned tons. Will do it again at different facilities just to get an idea of the differences in practice.

I've been shadowing also at Parkland. I've learned a lot too. It is certainly different actually being there, watching what goes on and being allowed to participate. I love it! Those GPA's are frightening! Do you think they all actually had those high GPA's, or were some of them exaggerating so that they didn't look dumb in front of their friends?

well, i talked with tcu today. she said that they have some students with what they think is a high gpa, but when tcu calculates it sometimes they don't reach the same conclusion! also, tcu calculates 3 separate gpa's: math, last 60 hours, and total. so who knows what our gpa's are gonna look like when they're through with them! :studyowl:

Hi! New to this site - just wondering about TW admissions. . . do they really even consider appliccations that come in October through the deadline of December? I noted several of you have already gotten interview letters. Do you know if they have a limit of interview positions? Anyone applying to UT Houston or Baylor Houston?? One more question - does everyone applying to TW have their CCRN?

I believe that they do give consideration to everyone that gets the application completed prior to the deadline.

CCRN isnt required at TWU. So I doubt everyone has it.

I know that Gman and I both applied early in September so that's why we already have letters. According to John Martin, the program director at TWU, all qualified applicants will be interviewed. He said last year it was around 400, with about 120 getting in. TWU doesn't require CCRN, but it will give you the edge. Of the about 15 nurses I work with at Parkland that are applying, all have their CCRN. So do Gman and I. So I would strongly encourage it. Sometimes TWU offers positions to people during their interview if they exceptional candidates. So a few slots will be given during that time, but all the rest will have to wait till February. For in depth questions call Delissa. She's great and will take time to talk to you about everything.

Hey Gman, I just got an invite @ TWU. What day and time do you interview?

Congrats! Gman and I are both interviewing on Jan. 2 (I think). I know he's in the a.m. and I'm just after lunch. R U from a local hospital? I know that they said they were going to group all the out of town people the second week I believe.

Interview on the 4th. From Houma, LA (bout 50 miles south of "N'awlins") probably gonna brush up on some CCRN stuff until then I guess... The anticipation is a killer... Good luck to you guys man...

I just sent all my stuff in last week to TCU and TWU. I am hoping for the best. I have also heard that TCU is more of a meet and greet interview. The waiting game begins - AGAIN! Wish me luck.
