For me this is true!!
I have my RN licence since April and don't need a green card because I have an "employment authorization". After posting my resume online in hospitals website and speaking with some receptionist and nurse recruiter, "I am not competitive enough" even if I studied and worked in a european country.

The hospital i work at sponsor and hire foreign nurses especially from the philippines from time to time. I actually think the best city to get a job in this country as a foreign nurse is New York. All the best.
I am interestered to know wich hospital you are speaking about. I did an internship at the Beth Israel in 2005 and at that time they sponsored foreign nurse and they still propose it on their website!!
Thank you!
Coler Goldwater Memorial Hospital in Manhattan. More than half of their nurses are foreign sponsored. I'm sure they are still hiring foreign nurses. I know of people who even got in a couple of months ago. You may call the hospital to find out how everything works. Good luck.

Any other hospitals who sponsor foreign nurses? Generally, is it really that hard to find those hospitals?

Many of you are forgetting that a foreign trained nurse is also one from Canada. And they do not go thru the same immigration process, they can work in the US right away with a TN Visa. And that is why many websites state that they will employ foreign nurses.
The US has been under a retrogression since October 31 of last year. And just because a facility petitioned in the past, does not mean that they are doing it now. Have not seen one facility actually start the process in more than two years if the nurse did not have years and years of experience or actually graduated from a program in NY. For the others, the start will be in a nursing home. Plain and simple. And the hospital mentioned above is not truly a hospital, it is a rehab facility, entirely different from what many of you are thinking of.

I called that hospital (Coler Goldwater). The HR person refused to discuss anything until I come to them personally. Well, there.
