chigor 6 Posts Aug 15, 2015 Okay.. They sent me a letter asking about my experiences.. And I don't have any experience at all since I got my degree last 2003, does it mean that I need to take the whole program of nurse? Or FEns? 0 Likes

I took my NCLEX-RN last week and passed, I'm on the process on endorsing my license from Hawaii to Texas. Anyhow, I called Texas BON to clarify about refresher course since I'm a foreign nurse who graduated 2007 in the Philippines. Texas BON representative told me I don't have to do refresher course since I just passed the test last week even if I graduated 2007. Refresher course are only for those who passed the test 4 years ago and did not apply for license in Texas. Hope this helps. 0 Likes

neraknaj 25 Posts Aug 26, 2015 Well that's what they told me, refresher course are only for those who passed the test and did not apply within 4 years. Did you take you NCLEX-RN already? They might changed it once you passed your test. I called them twice just to confirm and same response from them. 0 Likes

marjong0427 4 Posts Dec 7, 2015 Hi! same with wellenphilnurse, While i was on the process of my NCLEX application, i received a letter from TEXAS BON requiring me to take FENS. It state that "The FENS is completed after passing the NCLEX. The FENS is required for international applicants who have not practiced a minimum of 2 years within the 4 years preceding the filing of their application." I just passed my exam last November. So should i call TEXAS BON and asked them about the FENS? hhhmm, good for you cause they didn't require you anymore to undergo FEN. Hope that it will work with me. neraknaj 25 Posts Dec 12, 2015 I thought I was going to take FENS as well but they said "no" since I just passed my test. Also, my BON is Hawaii and I just endorsed it here after I passed. I already got my license in texas and starting to work next month. Hopefully once you pass your test it shouldnt be a problem. 0 Likes
deressa86 2 Posts Jan 30, 2016 Hi im glad i found this topic. im also from the philippines, graduated nursing in 2007... i just passed my nclex last week and after my manager found out she immediately put me into nurse orientation, i worked as a CNA in houston methodist. my concern is, i did not receive a letter before i took the test, that i need to do a refresher course... my friend had to take the fens and we graduated on same year, the only difference is that she took her first nclex more than 4 years ago.. should i be worried that they might tell me to take the fens? but i didnt receive a letter from bon stating that i need to do fens.. 0 Likes

The refresher courses are not cheap but it could lead to job referrals if you do well 0 Likes
