I've asked a medical officer recruiter from Oklahoma and she told me that to qualify, you have had to finish your degree in the US, be a US citizen, and and pass the physicals, I am also licensed in my home state. I got discouraged since I was planning to join the Navy Nurse Corps too, I am also a foreign grad..
I was in enlisted in Navy for 8 years active duty back in the days in weapons. Just finished my BSN overseas and interested too in going back in service hopefully commission.
I know the U.S Army needs more RN's because of the current situation and their population is largest of all Armed Forces. Both the Navy and the Army only recognize U.S Nursing Schools for BSN (unfortunately).
Well I talked to this U.S Army medic veteran who claimed that he was in Iraq and informed me that the U.S Army Reserve may honor foreign BSN (U.S NCLEX RN). He too is a recent foreign BSN grad I met during NCLEX review class.
I don't know if he is just blowing smoke at me, because he was telling me other stories I am not asking. The only thing I can think of is go to Army Recruiting Station and ask about OCS (Officer Candidate School). They will review your papers and verify and refer you to officer people.
Be advice, becoming an Army Nurse Corps requires commitment and passion along with some possibility of being shipped in Afghanistan or Iraq ( RN's work inside the base). I don't mind going enlisted myself as a reservist with those 68's series MOS, if my foreign BSN is not qualify. Learn more about the MOS(Military Occupational Specialty) for enlisted and see which is for you. Good luck to us.
The Navy only accepts students who graduate from schools accredited by certain commissions.
"Be a student or graduate in good standing of a U.S. education program granting a bachelor of science degree and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)"

So you would not qualify
No it would not be wise to join until you get a decree from a U.S. nursing school with the proper accreditation. You will have to wait years longer to be a military nurse enlisting as a medic or corpsman first. Even if you earned an MSN from a U.S. school on your own while working as a medic/corpsman, they would make you finish out your enlistment prior to commissioning. You should graduate first and then join the military.

Hello everyone, I am currently practicing as a RN here in the US and I am really interested in joining the navy nurse corp. Am i qualified since my bachelor of science in nursing degree was obtained in a school of nursing outside united states? Any input would be appreciated.
