thank you so much for the post i cant wait to hear all the info aug. 10th. i was actually considering xavier because it is close and the hours work good since i have kids. in your post you said you dont care for it, is there any particular reasons you think i should be aware of? any advice is appreciated. when you went to maric for ma what kind of things did you like about it. is it a small school are the people friendly? do you feel it is a good education? i really do not know anything about it. thanks agian for the post:yeah:i am so excited
The things i liked about maric where the teachers mainly, like being fresh into nursing and not really knowing anything they really explain themselves to you and take the time for you to understand, When i went also i had received a in house scholarship and had to pay nothing because i had gotten a grant for the rest, i just liked the school so much i was going to have to go to Maric in san diego but now i wont have to. Now alot of people say on here that your credits dont transfer and how they ARE SO WRONg, All mine transfered to Kaplan and get this i have allready completed 90 credits so i am well on my way to my bachelors once i receive my LVN from maric those too will transfer and kaplan has a bridge so in another year ill have LVN then My RN w bachelors and not so many people can say that. People say its a school whos robbs you but you knows those are the people who are just jealous and petty and couldnt afford it or are mad they have to wait on a wait list, but anyways check it out i am Extremly glad of my investment and would not go else where
Thanks for getting back to me. It sounds like you really did have a great experience if you were willing to move to San Diego to finish school through Maric. I am very interested in checking it out. I am not familiar with Kaplan can you tell me more about it? Once you are a LVN are you getting your RN online? Any tips on how to get a scholarship that would be great. Thanks for you time I look forward to hearing from you again. I live in Lodi do you live close?
Hi yes kaplan is a good online school you can never do your RN online but as you can see i did my medical assistant and those transfered to kaplan and then once i do my LVN those credits will transfer then i plan to a 2 step program into the RN because its much easier to get into a RN program w a LVN licencse, Once i receive that since all of my credits transfered ill have my BSN real quick see what i am saying lol since i went to Maric for the MA and LVN then a CC for RN all those wonderful credits transfer because kaplan is like the MAin campus and Maric is a siser school, Once you have your RN when doing a BSN online you can because there is no clinicals involved so i feel very lucky, I live very close to you in Patterson lol we should hook up and go to maric in stockton lol.... i cant wait till August 10 i swear ill be the first caller to Maric In Stockton lol ... I also did some research as far as scholarships yeah there are the tipical sites u know but maric always provides so you should have no problem... :wink2:
Do you know what RN program you might want to try to get into after you have your lvn? How far is patterson I am not sure where that is. I am really interested to see what type of schedule Maric will offer for for the lvn program. I hope it works for me. Do you know what area you want to work in when you are an lvn? And how do I respond without the quote on here? I am still figuring this thing out
catherineb or lovetospa,
have you checked out maric in stockton? what do you think? it's after 8/10 so they should be able to give you information now.
Hi lovetospa and RNBound83
Sorry didnt realize you guys posted lol, well anyways i have
some great news for both of you i found out all the deatils:
The program at Maric you have to take 2 tests the Wonderlic and the HESI the passsing they require you to have is a 21 to pass on the wonderlic but if you get a 16 or higher they allow you take it 1 more time to try for the 21. After that you have to take the HESI and get a background check And then you are put on a scale as far as points, You get points for everything attending the college before the testing your experince. etc.....
After all is said and done now you wait i guess there where about 140 people who took the Wonderlic but about 30 people passed including myself yipeeeee i got a 23 1st try lol:bow:, They are scheduling the HESI either tues today or thurs @4. Now there are also 30 spots open and 3 alternates if people drop the 1st month,Now If nobody drops those 3 alternates cant stay in the program but are guranteed a spot no matter what the next start which i thought was very cool. Because usually you have to re apply and that sucks.
Ok price and Lengh and time
Price is aroubd 26,000 expensive? yes but compared to Western career and gurnick and the other private schools a lot cheaper
Lengh is 12 months instead of the typical 14 months or longer
Time you are in school they dont have a set time just its going to be your typical work day either 8-5/ 9-6 that kinda thing M-F 40 hrs
As far externinship they are working it as you will always have days which was really nice m-f 7-4 which i thought was another postive factor lol
I love the school and i took the tour its awesome in there the labs and library and stuff oh you get FREE TUTORING and free like pass to study in the Library till i think 9 at night.
So with all said my mind is even more made up and i am attending. even though yes price is steep and stuff and maybe not the best of hrs there are tons of positives.
I hope i see some of you there
PS: Sorry if i mispelled just so excited lol
Thanks, Catherineb, for all the information. That Wonderlic test must be really difficult if 140 people took it and only 30 passed! That's crazy. Congrats on passing your first time! Woo hoo! You should be proud. It sounds like a great school. I'm just not sure I want to pay all that $$. I live in Galt, so it's soooo close! I'm applying to Delta in Sept, so if I don't get chosen for that then you can bet I'll look a lot closer at Maric! Keep posting and let us know if you pass the HESI, when you start, etc. I'm rooting for you!!

Glad they are finally getting alternatives to Delta and MJC. This area really needed some other nursing schools. Yippeee for Maric!!! (Now Kaplan)

bumping this thread up. I'd like to hear anyone's story about kaplan or xavier in stockton.
the next kaplan class starts in november. they start the group HESI testing in august. the next xavier class starts january 4th. kaplan is definetly a shinier school and has more stringent entrance requirements. it's also about $10k more than xavier.
I took the wonderlic today and passed. so I "qualify" to go to the next step!
