For those newly admitted, what are your plans for this summer?

Published

I start a BSN program in the fall and though I am excited I am really glad for summer break. I need a break from school!!

What are your plans for this summer? I have a lot of things to do before starting in the fall, I'm sure most of you will be doing similiar things....CPR healthcare provider class, immunizations, finding an affordable place to buy clincal uniforms, shoes, stethscopes, etc. I'm not sure where I'm going to get the money for all this...lol

I might get a job in the hospital but then again I think I might just like to do nothing all summer except lay by the pool and get a tan while my kids splash around....lol Relax before things really get hectic in the fall ya know?

Anyways, what are your plans??

Has anyone had orientation yet? We have our new nursing student orientation this wednesday, I'm kinda excited about that!

I'm taking a break from school. I start back on August 22, soi I'll have 3 months to get my house completely spotless, start reading up on my nursing books, and maybe go visit some out-of-town family.

Specializes in public health, heme/onc, research.
My program starts May 22 and runs all summer so I guess that is where I am spending my summer-->clinicals, lab, and class -->> best to all!!

Golden_Clover,

I start my nursing program in May 22nd too!! Before school starts I have to move, buy books, CPR, etc. What school are you going too?

My plans for the summer is to start to work full-time so that I can save money up so that I won't have to work while in nursing school. Also I will be throwing a 2nd birthday party for my son. (the theme is Thomas and Friends):balloons:

Specializes in Pain Management.

What is Thomas and Friends? My son is only 11.6 months old so all I'm familiar with is Baby Einstein and those darn Teletubbies.

Thomas is a blue tank engine. It's been around for years and my son is absolutely in love with him. He carries him around all over the place. He watches the dvd's back to back and doesn't get tired of it. When I went to toysrus to get a gift for somebody and made the big mistake of walking by the thomas display. Let's just say that it took me to buy a engine(those toys are expensive) and 2 sales associates to pry him out the store. I don't know how to insert a picture but if you go to www.thomasandfriends.com you can see what I am talking about. My son had a elmo themed pool party for his first b-day. My avatar is a picture of him at that party eating his first piece of cake (isn't he cute, sorry the mama came out of me)

Happy early b-day to your baby and make sure you plan throughly so you won't run into complications, but maybe its just me since I go all out for my son's parties. Parties just makes me wanna scream sometimes.:biggringi

School starts June 26th for me, so I'll be quite busy thank you very much! I am so glad to not have to wait all summer long, I have waited long enough!

Gotcha. Luckily my son is happy with anything new, even if it isn't technically a toy...like an empty box of kleenex. For some reason, I'll buy him a nice, expensive new toy and he'll play with it for a few minutes, then go back to the cheap ones. If he is inherently frugal, I have no idea where he got that from (Daddy has electronics, Mommy has shoes and clothes).

We aren't having much of a party, but we are trying multiple hippy-organic-no GMO-cake mixes to find one that tastes halfway good.

Edit: for some reason, the picture won't post and will only link.

I plan on visiting my granny (in Trinidad) for a few weeks. Also, visit my parents in PA, and my hubby will also be here for 3 weeks in June. Besides that I think I'll brush up on my math, and read some non school related books. Oh, and get rid of some of this prereq weight I've picked up.:lol2:

Specializes in OB, Cardiac.

I have to take chem II over the summer before I can start my program in the fall. Fun, fun, fun!!!! It's kinda cool that I don't have to freak out about getting an A though b/c I'm already accepted. Whew, what a relief.

This summer I am taking A&P II IF I make a C in my current A&P class. I guess I'll be taking A&P over if I dont. :angryfire

OUr school hasnt had an orientation. I start in the fall though. A friend of mine is in the summer session for the program and they didnt have an orientation at all?

She said she went to register for classes and order uniforms. She was going to buy the books but apprently they arent in yet, which I think is somewhat odd.

Specializes in I got hurt and went to the ER once.

I'm taking Pathophysiology, working and hanging out with my famiily as much as possible. I already have some of the text books so I look over the parts that are interesting to me. I am also in an accell. program. From what I was told I will have little time for my own personal A.D.D. chain of conciousness learning style. It's more "binge and purge" oriented... but then again so are most classes. Fortunately i do that well too.

I'm also stocking up on Ginko Bilboa. I've found that it really does increase my cognitive abilities. (Unsolicited tip of the day)

Actually it works better as part of a CHM [Chinese herbal medicine] granule formula. I include it in my sleep formula that I have to use when I'm under high stress.

If only I were to have a dispensary in KC...sigh.

But paying a 2K start-up cost for the herbs when I won't have time to see patients is kinda silly.

Edit: and I plan at training at Crawford's MMA hardcore for the summer in an attempt to get used to the schedule with the hope it carries over to the year of school.
