For those that failed...

What types of questions did you have? How many before the machine turned off? Did you feel confident you did OK/SOSO or just flat out knew none of it.

I don't find out until Friday but honestly I didn't think the test was that bad. I feel like that because of that I probably failed with my piddly 75 questions. I know that I didn't know most of the drugs or diseases so those I just had to go with my best choice. On the infection control/isolation stuff I actually knew most of the diseases and types of isolations to use.

Those that passed have broke it down but I would like to hear from those who didn't to understand what makes it so different. Not that I will be able to but I would like to try.

There is no way to second guess what results are going to be or what they were if you understand how the exam is even used to determine if one has passed or did not pass.

Number of questions means nothing, nor if you got the last question right or wrong.

All that write the exam get 50% correct and 50% wrong, they determine passing by the level where you are getting the majority of the correct ones at. Nothing more than that.

Best of luck to you until tomorrow when you can get your results.

Suzanne4, you wrote: All that write the exam get 50% correct and 50% wrong, they determine passing by the level where you are getting the majority of the correct ones at. Are you saying the test writers write the exam with 2 correct responses and 2 incorrect responses?, then a person(test taker) is judged on choosing the higher level of response?

The test looks at the questions and you need 50% to pass of fail, I do not think you will find 2 correct responses in a question you will find very close answers and you need to decide by prioritising which is more appropriate. Think of ABC, Maslow etc

This should help you understand NCLEX a bit more https://www.ncsbn.org/1216.htm

That is not what I meant. Each question has only one correct answer, not two. Each person writing the exam is going to get 50% of the total number of questions correct with that answer, and 50% that they are not going to get right.

The exam focuses on the level of the questions that one is getting correct; if they are from the higher level questions, then you pass. If they are at the lower level and below standard, then one does not pass.

Hope that this makes it easier to understand.

hi ,,

I took the exam on last 17th, i was very comfortable while answering the exam ,and i had 75 questions to answer ,, i took sometimes to answer the question more than a minute , i didn't mind that ,, i thought some of the questions while more than two to three minutes i didn't bother to run out of time ,,when i checked the quick result yesterday i was shocked when i found that I failed ,, but when i read some of the sticks here , I won't give up , and I will retake the test again , waiting for the evaluation from the stat board to see what weakness i got in that exam so i will work on it ,

best luck next time ,,

Sorry to hear that you did not pass. But do not rely on just what the letter will tell you, this next exam is not going to be anything like the one that you just wrote, there will be entirely different questions and everything else about it will be different.

You should prepare as if you have never taken the exam before, from the beginning.

Best of luck to you.

hello, sorry to hear that you did not pass. So did you think the exam was fairly easy? Is that why you were so shocked to realize you failed? Did you get prioritize/delegation quest, infection control and teaching like many people say you get when you pass the exam? I took it yesterday and i am scared to death b/c i didn't feel my quest were that hard.
