Hello! How are you guys doing?
So I have some questions regarding FNP. If one wants to work in a hospital, particularly in an oncology floor/blood and marrow transplant floor, would it be wise to go for FNP and then get certified to be an Oncology NP and then be an Advanced Practice Oncology NP?
Or... Would it be much wiser going that route to go for Acute care NP from BSN and then get certified for oncology and then Adv Oncology?
I'd appreciate your input! Thanks!
Also... Consider if wanting to know more about higher level of care.
I know it's obvious that Acute Care NP is the sensible choice. I just wanted to ask these questions, because my girlfriend is having a dilemma. She's trying to get into FNP school, but now is questioning whether she should actually go for FNP or not. The problem is that she has to probably/most likely wait longer if she decides to go for Acute Care NP due to the fact that the school where she really wants to go to has a deadline for application and she really wants to start school.
I think that if she decides to go for FNP right now, she'll eventually try to get Acute Care NP.

I don't work oncology, but FNPs can work inpatient too. A lot of it depends on your area. Are there any NPs in your area that work in the type of setting she wants to that she can talk to?
