Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) - Fall 2022

Published

Hey y’all!! I’m taking prerequisites and I’m hoping to apply by May 2022 Lord willing. I noticed that the previous program started a post and figured why not get one started for the next class. I’ll update this post when I apply and if/when I get accepted.

I did the same, collier and Charlotte days are my second choice. I work at lee health on the weekends for that reason. I am hoping and praying I get in. I finished the minimum pre-reqs. I am taking Stats this Summer. In reading the previous posts I see the more extra pre reqs you take the higher your score....ahhh I am so nervous. I am so happy you chose lee days too I hope we get in at the same time.

Awesome, I’m sure we will!! It’s honestly only a slight advantage as far as a higher score for the GPA calc. If you got A’s in your 4 required pre-req courses you still will have a 4.0 (20 points). It really only works against you if you only have the 4 classes but got B’s/C’s in them. When you add more classes it buffs out some of the lower grades.

The only other advantage you get from having all the courses is not having to take them concurrently with your nursing courses. It lightens the load a lot from what I’ve heard.

If you haven’t already done so, you should download the college/LPN GPA calc score sheet on the ASN website! You’ll know exactly what your score will be and can see where you lie in comparison to the last 2 admit cycles they have posted on there too!

Thanks for the tips. My GPA is far from a 4.0 it's a 5.4. I made a mistake and took 4 classes 2 being minis and it caused me to get 2 Bs. Ugh never again on the minis.

Did you mean to say 3.4 cause 5.4 is really high LOL

But yeah one of the reasons I never took minis. I would do Summer courses but only full Summer courses. That’s how my A&P classes were and my MCB!

Oh my 3.54 that's what I mean. Sorry I'm working today and my brain is mush.

3.54 is still really great! You should be proud of that! If I remember correctly the fall 2021 admission profile for Lee days, the lowest GPA they admitted was a 3.47. For Spring 2022 admission profile for Lee days was a 3.32. So I’m sure you’ll be selected for phase 2.

Thank you! I keep refreshing my email. I have a feeling we will not know until Friday....that's a lot of refreshing.

Yeah, I haven’t even bothered looking because I doubt it’ll be this early in the week. The last few cycles have always gotten notifications on Friday so that’s what I’m assuming will happen. I’ll be refreshing a lot on Thursday and Friday LOL! Good luck!! :))

Hi Guys!

Sarah (advisor) said email notifications will be going out before Friday this week. Let's keep each other posted! Also, are you guys working full or part-time during the program? I am a little nervous because I work full-time; however, I have 2-3 remote days so hoping that will help.

Hey @JessicaFutureRN thanks so much for the info!! How freaking exciting! I haven’t been wanting to email her cause I don’t want to feel like a bother LOL I’m sure she’s getting a lot of emails. I do have her email set as a “VIP” on my iPhone so I should get the notification immediately when she emails ?. If you have an iPhone you should definitely do that!

As far as working, I’m fortunate enough that my fiancé will be supporting the both of us through out the program so I don’t have to worry about work. But, in the summers I will be working full time to kinda make up that deficit. I think it’s super great you get to do a few days remote that will really be helpful.

Hi @karliwithak_

That's great you are able to not work! I only was in contact with Sarah because my Microbiology class from HCC didn't transfer over correctly so I had to do a credit review. She kindly offered that info so we lucked out! Thanks for the VIP tip. I am setting that up now! ?

Yeah I’m really blessed and fortunate. He’s been able to carry me through school when I go full time. I’m just so ready for us to be equal so we can plan our wedding and live our lives. ?

But my sister is going to HCC since my family lives in Brandon. How did you like it? And of course! It takes the pressure off of refreshing each day! ☺️

So exciting about your nuptials! This will all be worth the sacrifice once you're an RN. HCC is great; however, FSW registrar can be not-so-great. If a course code doesn't match exactly to FSW's, they just throw it in as a GEE or elective. The MCB class (MCB 2000 & 2000L) I just took there online is their only MCB course and lab and even FGCU accepts this & other FL public colleges. Laziness on the registrar's part so credit review it is. Fingers crossed!
