Relocating (eventually) - advice?

Hi Florida RNs!

I will be relocating to the Sunshine State (Tampa Area) sometime in the next year or so, following my husband there with his work. :)

I am a pediatric RN now, working bedside in acute care. I work in a large children's hospital.

Anyone have any inside knowledge on the pediatric hospitals in the area, or the programs at the smaller community hospitals (like Brandon?) I'd love to get an idea about where to look for employment when I finally make it down there. We are planning a trip to peruse the area soon and I'd love to do a drive by!

Also, love to some advice on where to live in the suburbs. I have three older (HS age) children and good schools are a must.

Thanks for your advice.

Wolfson's Childern's Hospital for you. It's large and they do amazing cases, like conjoined twins. Stay in St. John's County for best schools. Not Duval!

We'll be on the other side of the state! Tampa area. :)

All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg is going to be your best option for Pediatrics and they are hiring. When we move back to FL, that's where I will be [emoji4]

Best place to live in that area is Old Northeast in St. Pete...it totally ideal to raise a family, a little pricey but the schools the area is zoned for are A+. Also, Crescent Lake area of St. Pete- not as expensive as old NE, great schools and also about 10 minute commute from All Children's.

Good luck with your search and your big move!!

I loved St. Pete much better than Tampa and do hear that All Children's in better than St. Joes for peds. I work mostly in peds home care and am an LPN. Thinking about an RN bridge program now however if I can ever pass anatomy ugh. I have not been full time in 16 yrs. either so might just have to start all over and just do a 2 yr. RN program from scratch. I'm so confused lol.

Tampa General, Brandon regional, all children's, and st joes will be the best options for you!
