FSCJ Summer 2014 Hopefuls

Hi, Everyone!

My name is Jenn and I am going to be applying for Nursing school for the Summer 2014 term. I am completing MAC 1105 in two days! (This is a huge accomplishment because I've always been dumb at Math, but I am getting out with either an "A" or "B.")

I will be starting the last of my prerequisites BSC 2086C and MCB 2010C this coming fall semeter, so that is only in a couple of weeks. I plan to take the NAT in September so that I may take it again in January before the application deadline if I feel it is needed.

My sister is applying for the Spring 2014 semester, and while I hope she gets in, it kind of sucks that we won't be able to go through Nursing school together, but one semester apart is not bad.

Hoping to meet and chat with the rest of you who are hoping to and perhaps will be starting in the Summer of 2014! Best of luck to everyone! :yes:

I knowww! I so want us to get in together, but if I don't make it in the Spring program, then I hope we end up in the Summer program. If I do, you'll have a jumpstart on your first semester, I guess. :yes:

Hi, everyone else! As Jenn said, I'm applying for Spring and hoping to get in, but since my Micro points won't count (last pre-req that I'm taking this Fall), I may not make it. I'm taking the NAT in September as well and again in January (if I don't make it the first time.) It's so great to see light at the end of the tunnel.

I wish you all luck in your last two semesters before it's application time!

Have you already applied for the program? I thought the deadline for Spring was Aug 1st?

The deadline for Spring semester is October 1st. The earlier application dates won't go into effect until Fall 2014. So the deadline for Spring 2014 is October 1st. The deadline for Summer 2014 is February 1st. I don't know the new date for Fall 2014 for sure, but I think it's April 1st.

I'm applying for Spring 2014 this September. If I don't get in, I'm applying again for Summer, same as Jenn. We're both taking Micro this Fall too. Which professor are you taking? We're both with Lorincz.

I am also planning on appling for Summer. I just finished all prereq's. But I need to try for night and weekends. So i was disappointed when i was told they are not offerering n&w for Spring..so Onto Summer :-)

in the mean time, i will finish up my last 5 courses for my A.A.

I do have suggestion, if you can break up your sciences and take Anatomy in a seperate Semester than Micro, i HIGHLY suggest it. Micro is not joke! I'm doing finals right now..I cannot wait until this is over. I'm thinking i'm not going to get an A which is very disappointing because i really wanted the full 16 points..but we shall see if i can pull off a B :-)

I did my A&Ps separately and am taking Mirco on its own -- well, aside from other classes. I'm finishing my AA this coming term, so aside from Statistics, Micro is my only other tough course. The rest aren't bad, but no, Micro is definitely not a joke. I've seen the syllabus for it. Ouch.

I hope you get the A, but if not, a B still gets you a good set of points.

Hey everyone! My name is Sodya (: I'll be applying for summer 2014 as well! Tomorrow actually is my MAC1105 final at deerwood. I hope I pass with a B at least. The professor I took grades pretty difficult and it wasn't mymathlab neither! I only have 4 pre reqs left until I apply. I have taken A&P 1 two times! I was starting my job at St. Vincent's Riverside and basically I got too caught up with work. So now I have to pay 3x's the class cost and i'm taking A&P1 and Chem together. I know its not the best decision but then I only have A&P2 and Micro last .. I see you all said that MCB isn't easy. Well I can try my best and hopefully I can push myself through to finishing! My advisor at FSCJ south is amazing he was my HS advisor as well and is helping me find a way to pay for the fall term. I am not eligible for FA because of when I was starting my new job my GPA and grades decreased. So, he said he would find a way for costs to be covered! I can't do a loan because i'm only 20 years old and I have no credit established. No one can cosign for me because my family doesn't have the best credit. My grades are okay ..

ENC1101 - B (Mayport Naval Base)

HUM - A (Sirius Online)

SYG - A (Sirius Online)

PSY - B (Kent Campus)

DEP - C (Sirius Online) *not happy about this

MAC1105 - Possible A or B (Deerwood) *hopefully after my final tomorrow

I want to take Human Growth again but I don't want to delay my application another semester.

Hi, Sodya! Who are you taking for AP1? Chemistry is no fun, but technically, you can take Intro to Chem (1020) and still qualify for Micro. That class doesn't count for your RN requirements, only as a pre-req for Micro. That would be much easier than taking the higher levels. I would highly, highly recommend Professor King at Kent for that class. He's a blast.

Good for you for making an A or B in Algebra. For most people, math is not a strong suit, so that's something to be very happy about. :)

As far as DEP goes, FSCJ doesn't allow you to retake a class unless you have a D in it, but you can make up those points by scoring high on the NAT. The NAT score would close any gap created by grades.

Hi, Kate! Hi, Lori! Hi, Sodya! Hi, Candace (my sister)!

It is good to see some others who will be applying for summer! I really wish I could break up my A&P 2 and Microbiology, but that would mean I'd have to wait even longer to apply and I just do not want to do that. I am prepared that is is going to be an extremely tough semester this coming Fall. Sodya, I am in the same boat as you except with my A&P 2. This is my third attempt so it cost me the triple amount or whatever it is. Ridiculous. Mine was from years ago when I was much younger and was not giving college the attention it deserves. You live and you learn. The same thing happened with my GPA and the last two semesters I've had to pay out of pocket. Hopefully though my GPA and attempted credit hours to completed credit hours will be high enough to qualify me for financial aid at the very least by nursing school. Have any of you taken the NAT yet? I'm going to take my first one in September so I will have time to take it again in January if I need to do so. Hi everyone,

I have three classes left to take (A&P2, Humanities & Micro) and am applying for the Summer 2014 program. I still need to take the NAT, has any one taken it yet? any tips?
