FCCJ "cut off" points

U.S.A. Florida

Published

i'm posting this because i'd like to have one whole thread dedicated to this. i've seen people mention in several threads what past cut off points have been, so in this one i'd like to have the stats for the past cut off points, starting with this past summer.

if you have the info, please post it!

cut off points for:

summer 07 term

spring 07

fall 06

summer 06

spring 06

thanks :)

Ahh that lady is crazy. I got in Summer of 2008 and we have less applicants for numerous reasons. I think our cut off was like 180 or something and there are people in my class that had as low as 176 because of people who did not want or accept their seats, had a bad background check, etc. So just so you do not get accepted initially, they can call you all the way up to two weeks before classes start. =)

If you're just starting pre reqs quit worrying about it, you've got another 2 years. Just do your best and thats all you could hope for. If you're not doing well in the pre reqs then maybe nursing wasn't for you.

Thank you for this post!!~ I called the Nursing Dept. today and was told the cutoff for summer last year was 189 ish. I am applying for this summer and was starting to get a little worried, becasue I have 185.8 points. I know they are also pulling from Duval and Nassau first, and this will be the first sem. they do this. Should be intersting.

For me, I am more interested in the cut of nights/evenings..... I understand that with fewer seats, these fill up on higher point scores. Mine is 219.

Our cutoff for Summer 2008 was 180, I am pretty sure. Financial Aid does not pay (except WorkSource) for summer, thus less applicants. Fall, I believe, is that hardest to get into.

I'd like to get other student's thoughts..

I am thinking about applying for the summer term 2009 @ fccj.

I've read some of the other post about the cut off 180 and them accepting scores last year as low 176.

I have thought about retaking my NAT Test to get a higher score because I bombed the verbal portion of the test due to lack of time. However, I took the NAT in Sept of 2008 and I do not want to take it again and risk not getting as high of a score if I had more time to study for the NAT. Since you can only take the NAT twice in one year I do not want to risk getting a lower score because of my time crunch.

My question to you all is,

Since I have 177 points & I am a resident of Duval County. Do you think that my chances are greating getting in with the 176 score?? & also with financial aid not paying for summer term, that may allow me to get in.

Should I skip the test and see if I get in for summer term with 177 points total?

Or should I take the test?

Just seeing other peoples input...

I am leaning towards just going with the points I already have and applying with 177 points.

If I don't get in with 177 points... I would just study, retake the NAT and reapply for fall.

Can someone shed some light.... WHAT WOULD YOU DO??!!

Thank you for telling me the points for summer last year!! I have No clue why the nursing dept told me it was 189. I have to tell you having 185.8 I am feeling a "little" better. I was thinking the same thing there is no fin. aid for most people in the summer. :)

You can get loans, and if you have a grant left over from the year, then it helps pay then. But they do not give you any more money.

My friend got into Fall with 183 points, so it is possible!

Well I would go ahead and apply with that score because you said it yourself you feel like you are going to put under a time crunch in order to make a better score on the NAT and you are right if you do not then you are stuck for a year with the scores you already have. You are right with you living in Duval County it is going to give you an advantage over other people who live in other counties besides Nassau. So it should be an intersting time! I am already anixous and I haven't turned my application in yet!!

The reason they only let you take it twice a year is because they give you the same test. Focus on the areas you did bad in, because FCCJ takes the highest score from however many times you take it. And they don't count the vocational and the spelling part. I would retake it. I do not know how this new rule is going to change things (a lot of the people in my group are from Clay County) but it might make it easier.

Thank you for sharing all of the point cutoffs with me, it really does put my mind at some kind of ease! I was really starting to get VERY worried~ I am going up there next week to turn in my application :) As far as paying for summer. I am not that worried about it. I know I am going to have to come out of pocket, I am going to call worksource when and if I get in! At least I have five classes to keep me busy while I wait. I decided to finsih up courses for my AA in the meantime. :)

opps I typed the above message in the wrong place! sorry!
