I am attempting to obtain a Florida Nursing License. I hear the process is lengthy and horrible. Has anyone used one of the Licensing companies out there? Are they legit? Are they worth the money? PLEASE someone help me, I need this license ASAP!!!

I moved here 15 yrs ago from New England. The process is THOROUGH and that makes it tough. You will need several passport size photos (done at a local photo place - look in your yellow pages for passport pic) and you will need to fill out completely the application. I cannot remember if there are letters in the package from the Florida Board of Nursing that you send to several references...there may be.
I don't think you can count on a "temp" license - if you already have a job in Florida, ask the hospital to help you...the human resources person/nurse recruiter should be willing to assist you. If you need the board of nursing's address or phone in Florida (Tallahassee) let me know.
Don't panic! Good luck! walk6miles

It was not that bad. Have your school transcripts sent to the florida board of nursing. Make sure you have the 25 ceu's needed for our state licensure.I think I sent something to the minnesota board of nursing to then get my license endorsed to Florida. Then paid the fee. It took about 6 weeks. I would not waste money paying someone to do that which you can do.

Gee, I moved here 4 years ago. I don't remember having to supply pictures! The process was pretty thorough, and I didn't think it took excessively long - maybe ~1 month? I certainly wouldn't use any outside sources to obtain it, that's for sure. Just go on to myflorida.com and follow the links!
Good luck

I moved from NJ to FL 2 1/2 years ago and transferred my license here. The process took about 3 months but only because they lost one page of my application. Once they got the missing page, it only took a few weeks before I had my license. Like the previous poster said, log ont o myflorida.com and all the info you will need is there.
