I'm less than a year away from my ASN, and my plan is to move to Sw Florida after getting 6 months work experience.
Im looking for real answers as to starting pay for new grads or less than 2 year experience..
is it easy to get overtime at most hospitals?
Any other info you have for me would be much appreciated.
Also plan on working nights . Differential?
Thanks in advance!

Not sure of sw Florida but central Florida HR dept I have talked to are $23.25 or $23.50/hr for brand new new grads. Plus diffs. Avg $2/h 3-11p and $6/h 11-7a
Great that's better than I was expecting, and that's before night shift dif. Any idea on availability of overtime?
I edited to include the diffs I was quoted. No clue about ease of OT but I imagine it's not hard during season (winter) since the population increases
Oh and not sure where you are coming from but Florida has no income tax! And low sales tax on goods (none on food) --- of course I'm from NOLA so I'm used to paying upwards of 10% sales tax on everything [emoji15] I can't wait to move my happy hind end to Florida [emoji3]
I'm from Maine, so I get slammed with state income tax and lots of snow! Can't wait to be in Florida!!

I'm in the Tampa area, just hit a year of experience and my base is $26.93, $4.50 for nights, $1.25 for weekends. This is what I was hired with as a new grad. I'm from up north and can attest to the fact that the no state income tax is sweet, lol.
Great!!! I'll be in Fort Myers, hoping pay is similar, I can def live with that!
Which hospital is this? Just curious
I sent you a PM :). Oh, and to answer the overtime question: TONS of opportunity at my hospital at least. Most RNs on the floor work 4 shifts/week. Some do more.
I had heard bad stuff about FL pay for RNs. This is encouraging . I'm getting a jump start on fall content as we speak :)

Curious what hospital this is as well as I live in Tampa and considering changing jobs. I'm having a hard time because I'm ASN halfway thru a BSN program.
