Florida LPN Courses

U.S.A. Florida

Hi everyone! I'm brand new to this forum but very excited to be here. I have an associates degree in liberal arts with mostly science courses. My GPA is 3.0 I want to become a nurse and was wondering how to go about it. I was thinking I'll do the LPN course first and then do LPN-RN online as I have to work. Is this a good idea and what schools do you recommend in south or central florida for LPN courses. thanks guys.

First off, welcome to the forum!:an!: I suggest that you go for your LPN first then RN. Why don't you try and c if you can get into Robert Morgan Vocational Center? It's in Miami. As a matter of fact, I attend there myself. I'm 17 and I'm in high school and I am in Robert Morgan's Nursing program there. It only takes about a year. For us students still in hgh school, we do both the LPN progarm and take our high school course simultaneously. What you could do is check out the LPN program and find out if it's what you're looking for. Once you graduate from the course, you can then pursue your RN elsewhere. I really hope this helps. btw, what part of FL are you from?

Thanks a million. Nurses rock!!

For those who wanted to know btw I am in the fort lauderdale area but i'm considering moving to charlotte, north carolina due to the cost of living there and the weather isnt bad either. Any comments? bring em on...please.:redpinkhe

Most of the schools near me have a LPN-RN bridge program. From speaking with advisors their I was told if you have your license and there are seats available when you apply your pretty much in. This is the only reason I decided to get my LPN first because the schools are harder to get in if you're fighting for the traditional route.

I think the program in Orlando is T.E.C.O. and it ran through the school board.

Here's a website that lists all the nursing schools in Florida LPN/RN.

TECO has a geat program ! Usually no waiting list either. You need to take the TABE and the NET test to get in, and hold an 80% average.

Hello every1. I go to Erwin Tech here in Tampa and thier LPN course so far is great I love my Teachers and the area is not bad. it's part of the school system so the tuition is not bad and you can save your money to further your education later on. www.erwin.edu i think is ther web site. For this year March is the dead line and august would be the first class that start during the day. Good Luck!

Your best bet would be to call the schools themself and ask. The tuition prices go up every August so someone that's in the program now may not have to pay the same price as you will if you get in.

Hey! I graduated from Sheridan technical in October of last year. It is a fantastic school! Amazing teachers, most anyways ;D The program will cost you about 600$ roughly each term with a book fee of about 150$ lasting you through nearly all 5 terms. You will need to buy separate books for OB/Peds for fourth term, but they are very inexpensive. The program itself is exactly one year. And there is full financial aid available through work force one. It helped many of my co students through the program.

Sheridan is the best of the three schools, Atlantic, and the other school are simply sub par because of their instructors. Sheridan really has an amazing staff, a great clinical site and easy to get to campus. The 2nd, 4th and 5th term teachers are phenomenal. I can give you the specifics on what to expect per term and per teacher if youd like. I graduated with some friends of mine at the top of the class so I can give you some pretty good advice.

Anyways, I hope this helped!

I am a former student at BCC north campus, personally I do not recommend BCC unless you are entering the LPN-RN transition program. I did not feel as though the teaching staff at north campus is very helpful towards seeing students pass the program, if anything they try their hardest to change the program so frequently so that people are not able to pass. The failure rate at all BCC campuses for nursing is very high. I know because I've known multiple students at all three campuses and normally no one call pass thru the program without failing at least one or two semesters of classes.

I am now researching LPN programs in south florida broward county area, most private programs such as those at Keiser College or Sigma Institute which are higher in costs but are usually more caring and have a vested interest in your graduating or so I've heard from a few students i've talked to at both programs, one who graduated from Keiser and the other who will graduate from Sigma Institute in one month. I personally do not suggest anyone attend BCC if they don't have to and if you do make sure you have a strong support system of study group buddies cause you guys will need it for that program.

I've also heard Sheridan Tech is an excellent school I have a friend starting class this Wednesday she failed 3rd semester GIGU at BCC north campus but is now at Sheridan. She did her research and talked to some students before she started and I agree with dreamer that they have the best program b/c the teachers are very helpful and want to see you pass and graduate and that is very helpful in this type of difficult curriculum. Good luck to everyone out there!

Still holding on :specs::balloons:
