Hi,
I was wondering if anyone who has worked or currently working at Florida hospital can tell me what the pre employment physical consists of. I heard the drug test is a blood test and I am terrified of being pricked by needless ðŸ˜. I was hoping I was just going to have to pee in a cup. I usually have to get anti anxiety meds from my doctor any time I have to go do needle work so I am just wondering if I should be prepared. Can anyone tell me if they do a urine or blood test?
thanks In advance!

they might do blood tests for titers and you can't get around needles if they also require annual ppds and flu shots. better get used to it sorry.

It is perfectly fine to be anxious sometimes. Getting a prescription anxiolytic for something that lasts under a minute? Experience the anxiety - you'll be a better nurse for it.
Are you planing to call an MD every time a patient tell you they're afraid of needles? Wait for pharmacy to deliver the med? Wait for the med to take effect? THEN draw labs? I hope not!

Only Florida Hospital can answer what your pre employment physical consists of .You have a phobia, if you learn that the physical requires a needle stick, have your doctor prescribe the anxiolytic as per any other blood draw.
Provide your list of prescribed medications.. you will be covered for the anxiolytic.. if it shows up that quick.
P.S. I've found that several cocktails and a designated driver works just as well.

A few things need to happen before you start work at Florida Hospital. They make you pee in a cup for your drug test, so you are ok there, BUT they do draw labs for TB and probably other assays. I can't remember all the things they test for. Also, you will be required to have annual PPDs (I think they recently switched from blood test to PPDs) and you will need to get an annual flu shot, unless you want to wear a mask all day.
Are you a nurse? I'm curious how being so afraid of needles, and using those needles on patients is going to affect you. I'm genuinely curious. I'm not trying to judge.
I'm not a nurse I work as a physical therapist . I don't mind seeing the needles on others just can't handle it on myself
Oh I understand then. All I can say is it will be over before you know it. Take some deep breaths and look away. Good luck, and I promise it will be ok :)
Again, experiencing anxiety for a one-minute procedure is not a terrible thing.
