Published

Hi guys, applying at FGCU and just wanted to keep in touch with the others applying as well. I know this is a bit early since the deadline is not until September.

@Klebsi-bella congrats! Yes very true we can probably get a good idea in the meeting! I’m from NC but moving to the Tampa area next month actually

Specializes in CVICU & MICU.

Congrats everyone! Excited to see you guys at the open house! I talked to ----------------------- back in March and she said that last year, they had around 90-100 interview but accepted around 24 applicants.

Congrats to everyone!! Wow, only 24. Does anyone have insights on their interview style?

Did everyone who attended enjoy the open house? They did touch on the interview style and said it wouldn’t be clinical questions, more relaxed and to see if you’ll be a good fit and succeed in the program. Looks like the current students they had there were happy too. There looked to be around 60ish people attending the open house but many of them were current students and faculty.

Does anyone interview this week? If so, good luck to you!

@Klebsi-bella I found the open house very helpful and they were so encouraging! And yes I interview on Friday!

I agree, I found the open house so encouraging. Good luck on the interviews! I wonder how many they're interviewing and when they release the results. This school is my first choice so I would really love to get in.

From what I read in previous years threads on here they make their decisions and call the day after the last interview. So hopefully we will hear that first week in November. As far as how many people they interview, it looked like about 50ish applicants were at the open house but I’m sure not everyone could attend so who know.

I really hope that I get in as well, it’s the only school I want to go to and haven’t applied anywhere else. I know what I want, LOL but I’m really putting all my eggs in one basket here ?, especially considering how competitive it can be. Fingers crossed! Good luck on your interview this week, mine is next Tuesday. Never done a virtual one so I’m a little nervous but I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Thats great if they announce pretty fast.. The agony of waitinf won't be so long. I interview on the last day (that was my only available day). I hope that doesnt affect my chance of getting in ? good luck to everyone!! It's so competitive!

Do any of you guys know if you are able to work at all during the first semester or so? It wasn’t touched on during the open house that I can remember and I know it’s considered integrated but they said the first 1-2 semesters is basically all online so I didn’t know if we could still work like some other programs?

Im pretty sure they would say it is not recommended. Almost all programs vote against this. There are very very few people who managed to work, and survived. Most failed.

I understand that! I was just wondering because I had read a few places saying they did allow it the first semester. Another program I’m interviewing for let’s you work the first 2 semesters so it’s not an taboo in my opinion as of recent so I was just curious!

Ohhh. I actually didn't know some programs allow it. Good to know!
