i always wanted a bachelor's degree from a university and here i am on my way to get it!!

i struggled a lot to get here-- lots of dissapointments with not getting in to mdc-- but i didn't give up and now i am in a great place in my life, and can't wait to start school again.:yeah:

Bumblebee, is this purely online, or all on campus curriculum?

So far the program is all online. I am doing two classes at a time-- since I am already an RN, I don't feel I need to 'rush' to finish.

I never :nono: ever have to go to classroom for lectures so basically I go on to "blackboard" (webct), look at my assignments and do them and upload them to the "blackboard" on the date that they are due (you can do it before they are due too).

I also do three CLEP exams through excelsior college that gives me 24 credits.

The last part is a clinical portion, where they will set me up and tell me where to do to do clinical hours which is called "practicum".

hope this helps! :nurse:

Hey bumblebee,

got a question for u.

I am done with my prereqs for the AS this summer, but not sure if I will get in the program for miami dade for the fall. I am wondering if I should continue with the prereqs for the AA and then apply to fiu. What do u mean, when u say the AS and also AA. Do I have to complete both of them and become an RN in order to get into FIU? I am confused.

hey bumblebee,

got a question for u.

i am done with my prereqs for the as this summer, but not sure if i will get in the program for miami dade for the fall. i am wondering if i should continue with the prereqs for the aa and then apply to fiu. :twocents: if you don't get in-- or at this time, did not get in to the mdc this fall '09, that's ok, just continue taking classes to complete the aa degree in pre-nursing. and once you get your aa in pre-nursing, you can apply for the generic bsn program at fiu

what do u mean, when u say the as and also aa. :twocents: essentially when you go to a community college, and you complete a program there, and graduate-- lets say from a pre-nursing degree, that is called associates in arts

(aa) degree in pre-nursing, which is about 60 lower-division credits.

when you go to community college & graduate from a specific degree such as generic nursing, it is considered an associate in science degree (as)

an as degree is considered because, it is not required to have a 2nd english class, a statistics class, etc.

in my personal journey, since not getting accepted to mdc, i continued with classes towards the pre-nursing aa, and focused on the class requirements for fiu. and received my diploma from mdc and it is called an aa.

after completing the aa with diploma in hand, i went to bcc and completed the nursing program there, and received an as in nursing. now that i have my as, rn license, and an aa in my hand, i went to apply to fiu program for rn-bsn, and did not have to take any pre-reqs for that program, because i had already completed it with obtaining my aa in pre-nursing.

do i have to complete both of them and become an rn in order to get into fiu? yes,

in order to go to the rn-bsn program, you need to complete the pre-reqs for that program. \

those classes are not required to enter the rn program at a community college, for example, you do not need statistics to enter rn school at bcc, or mdc; but you do need it for the rn-bsn program.

you have to complete the aa to enter the rn-bsn program at fiu.

the as degree is obtained when you finish the rn program at a community college, or any other college that offers the as in nursing degree.

i am confused.

i hope these specific answers helped. sorry it took long to answer but i did not see your post!

2010 and I have been slacking. Not finished yet just because out of laziness and all the hard work you have to put into your schooling.

I just did my first clep exam and I passed!

now 2 more to go.

maybe they will let me take both my clinicals in the summer so I can graduate and finally get my BSN!

Bumblebee I just started my first class this week. I have transition to professional nursing and Professional Nursing Social section. Have you done those classes already? Any words of advice. I have never studied on line before, I am kind of concern about it.

Thanks in advance

oh yes I finished all that.

I have left the last 3 classes of the program, NUR4636L NUR4636 & NUR4235 (I think that's the last number not 100% sure)

those first 2 classes that you mentioned are very easy. Just writing short papers, and they are not bad at all. I got two A's. Papers are very easy, just attach them to the assignment folder.

It was my first time just doing online courses, and honestly you will love it. very convenient. I used to write the paper that was due on the same day that it was due.... I swear!

the class is not that bad.

the physical assessment class, was a little tougher for me, because that class it's like nursing school again, so you do have to read up, and you do have to come to the campus for an evaluation of physical assessment and you partner up with one of your classmates.

best of luck to you!

Bumblebee thanks fr the words of advice. I have done two papers so far. I got decent grades on them 92,90. The others two papers are a little bit more challeging. I am a bit annyed at the whole APA style thing I used the word to format this and the professor still made corrections on them. Do you have any other APA style that you used for your papers.

Thanks in advance

BTW there is only one APA style....... but

yes I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Download PERRLA program to your computer. It is $29 download for 2 years. It's a Word formatting program that sets up the page for you.

It's the BEST!!!

http://www.perrla.com/

I've been using it since 2005 in my NSU days when the teacher recommended it. Just don't tell your teacher now that you are using it, and save it on another folder, not the perrla folder.
