Hey guys! So I'm super nervous about applying to FIU because I don't think my GPA is all that great. :/ I didn't do well my first semester there so that brought my GPA doooown. Currently I have a 3.6 overall and a 3.5 science (which is really bad...I finished all of my science classes last semester). Hopefully by the end of this spring semester my overall will be at a 3.7. I do not have volunteer hours but I have been shadowing at a hospital (which I prefer because I had a bad experience volunteering lol). I'm taking the TEAS at the end of this month and I'm studying super hard for it right now >__<. if you guys have any good study tips on how to do well the teas that would be greatly appreciated too for those already in program or graduated from what think my chances are advice is great thank so much>
What I got from it is that if you already had immunizations done all you need to do is to upload those documents and get tiders done to see if you're immuned, if not you'll have to do the immunizations again. But if you never had immunizations done then yeah you get immunized for everything and then get the tiders done. All the documents are uploaded on complio.
The list she was going to send us of immunizations can be found at http://fiuexpress.com/FIU_ClinicalRequirements_Checklist.pdf

Thank you!! The way the information is given out by complio is so annoying.
I didn't get them done but...
If you already had the vaccines the titers for varicella, mmr and hep b should show up positive, therefore you are immune and don't need to get them done again. Just submit the labwork for the (positive) titers and forget about the proof of vaccine.
However, if you got these done a long time ago you might show up negative and have to redo the vaccines (maybe one dose or all of the series). You won't really know unless you get the titers done.
If you show up negative for one of them then you have to get that specific vaccine done again, but you have to submit the paperwork for new vaccination and subsequent labwork which should be positive by then.
Tdap there is no titers just show proof that you got it done within the past 10 years.
I didn't complete the 2nd varicella dose and she recommended me to finish and get the titer later. So if you haven't been vaccinated at all don't get the titer! Just get your vaccines done ASAP because your just going to show up negative and waste money.
If you show up negative for hep b just sign the declination and start the doses. I guess we can update our immunity to it later on.
Don't worry I spent a whole afternoon just trying to understand it. No titers for TB just proof of the two step. Although I am not sure about that x-ray part on the TB annual screening form...
I don't know how you are doing the titers but if you go to a lab then you need a doctor's order. I went to labcorp and I looked on quest's website and they said you need it. After blood work they send you the results. Maybe your doctor does them at his practice or you can do it at FIU's student health services. Whatever is cheaper for you.
** I forgot to mention if you get vaccines done and then blood work the same day it will probably show up negative. It takes a while for you to show up immune.
***Actually if you are doing it at the lab ask them where they are going to send it because they might send it to the doctor instead. Always ask lol.

I'm very confused about the tiders and immunization. So first you need to get immunized for everything. Then you need your doctor to fill out a sheet saying that you're immunized for that specifically? And then you need to get bloodwork done and where would we upload that?
