Hi everyone!
I'm not sure if there is another thread for FIU's 2014 generic BSN program, but I figured I'd make one. I just wanted to see if there was anyone else who applied? I finished applying about a week ago and I was hoping maybe someone in the program could give us some advice or insight on how they like the program.
Thanks! And good luck everyone!!
Thanks... Anything is better than nothing. Everytime I call fiu, they are always busy. Despite the fact that I scored a 80.7 on the teas and have a 3.91 cum gpa, 3.95 science gpa, with 4 years in the military, I'm starting to feel like I'm not going to get accepted. I just wish they would hurry up and give a yes or a no, so I can start planning my next move. I can't believe it's taking this long. To make matters worse, I'm currently taking chm1046 ( because I love science) and I don't know what would happen if I got a B in the class? What would happen if my gpa dropped to a 3.7 after I've been accepted (hopefully), would they give me the boot...lol...simple question that I can't seem to find the answers too.....but thanks you Brittl for your help
How many credits do you have? If your current GPA is a 3.9, even if you get a B in the class I don't think your GPA will drop below a 3.85. It's only a 3 credit class and considering it's not a prereq for the nursing program, I don't think it'll be a big deal if you don't get an A lol. Have you taken any other chemistry courses?
I hope your right. I've taken chem1045 with lab and now I'm taking chm1046 with lab which is worth 5 credits together and mac1147 which is worth 5 credits, so I'm taking 10 credits worth of classes in the summer and I think I have about 66 credits in total, not including the summer credits. What about you? What's your status?
The best way to answer that question is with a question. After you have obtained your bsn, what's next? I'm taking those course to keep options open for me in the event that I decide to go to med-school, or those same classes might compliment a career as a anesthetist, even though they are not required in order to be a anesthetist. And not to mention I love science. I got my AA in December 2013, I would have committed suicide if I had to Wait till June not doing anything else but going to work at a job I don't like...lol...joking about the suicide... So the extra class are pre-med pre-requisites, or compliment to further my career in nursing, and a means to keep my self mentally occupied as I wait for fiu to make their decision.

I'm not 100% sure on how everything works, but I know they have a program of study we would follow if we are accepted into the program. You could find it on the FIU BSN site. Also, from what I've heard, you don't pick your own schedule and it is five days a week. They would let you know at what times your classes/clinicals will be at. I don't think 100 students would be in one class, but I could be wrong.
Again, this is just information I heard from a student a couple years back!
