? about FirstLab or drug testing...

Just wanted to know how often you get selected for testing. I am really short on money and need to budget an amount for these random drug screens.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Can anyone tell me what option #4 is for First Lab?

I would imagine option 4 is varied by which lab does the testing. First lab is the third party administrator. The actual labs run the test. Labcorp, Clinical reference Labs, etc

sorry to say i dont know what any of the options look for and would also like to know, but it doesnt really matter, you just need to go drop the specimen anyway.

i too am in pa and get tested very regularly, at least once a week. still not working and its really becoming a financial drain.

Does anyone know what Option 1 on the Quest Diagnostics chain of custody form tests for. Third party administrator is First Lab for the NC BON. Just curious if it includes the infamous "etg" test.

There aren't any numbers beside the options on the Quest Diagnostics COC forms like there are on the Lab Corp COC forms, which is the testing compay the NC BON used until this past January when they switched to Quest. I know that Option 1 on the Lab Corp COC didn't include "etg"... but not sure about Quest since there aren't any test codes. Kinda figure they'd be testing for the same thing, but you never know...

I have a question, I am new to the Intervention program in NC and I am going to have to start testing with First Lab. First question, how much do these tests usually run? I am trying to set up a budget. I am confused as to what to avoid in order to avoid a positive screen for alcohol, i.e. hygiene, hair, cleaning products. Everything has some form of alcohol in it, do I have to avoid all ingredients that end in "ol". Several products claim to be "alcohol free" but actually have things like propylene glycol in it. Also, laundry detergent, what can I use...Please help me. I tested positive for trace amts of THC in my system (from one joint 27 days before my test, stupid I know), I am not a drinker, I know to avoid the obvious products, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Another thing, my prescribed eczema cream has several types of alcohol in the ingredient list, what am I going to have to do about this?

For the first year, you will be tested an average of 2 times per month. You might have a few months of 1 time, but also will have some months were you are tested 3 times. One month, I was tested 3 times in 1 week! (Probably most tests will be option 1, but if you get an option #2, that includes (I believe) an EtG test. I understand your fears because alcohol is in everything...Option 1 will not show up + for the hair products, or Purell etc. The EtG may show +. Search for Etg drbill100 and ask questions. He has an entire database on EtG testing.

By the way, for years 2 and 3, the testing seemed to be a little less often as long as you call every day without exception, and don't miss any screens (and don't test +). Go to the required meetings and be active. The time will go by quickly...especially after you find a job that will accept your restrictions (if you have any).

question for packfan007, how often does option 2 usually come up? is it only periodic or something that occurs on a regular basis? just curious. i've never had that option while i've been testing.

I only have since Jan 2011 of this year to comment on the Quest Diagnostics' testing...before January, it was LabCorp doing the testing. The EtG option from LabCorp was #12 and #14. I got that about every 4th or 5th test. With Quest, I have seen the Option 2 about every 3rd or 4th test, but I started with option #2 for my first 3 tests with them. All EtG tests have been on Mondays and Fridays. I know others that have never been given an option #2.

If alcohol was not on your list of things that you have abused, you may never get tested for EtG. I was really nervous at first, but I have not had a false +. Once you have a few tests under your belt, testing will just seem like part of your daily routine.

Thanks for the information. You are the first person I've found that has information specific to NC. I'm also curious about holiday testing. Have you ever been given a test on a holiday, like Memorial Day, July 4th or Labor Day. I live in a small area and most places that are a reasonable drive for me are closed on holidays. I'm trying to plan ahead in the event I have to test on a day like that.
