Nurses New Nurse

I dont know what to do with myself. I passed my NCLEX, made a resume, but now I'm just clueless... no idea what setting i want to work in, hours, nothing. I had wanted to go on to get my RN immediately, but for some reason after the past year of school, i want nothing more than to sit home and play on the computer, lol. :( I'm not normally a lazy person. I have no idea whats gotten into me. :( Maybe just how daunting the new job will be, but then, i have to get a job for it to be daunting right?

So what did you all do? How do you start putting one foot in front of the other? Did you use want ads to find a job or just pick out the places u wanted to work and send in your resume?

Congratulations!!! I'm in the same boat as u...I passed the NCLEX 10/29, I have my resume sort of ready to go. I know I want to work in a LTC facility. But I also just want to sit at home on the computer for another month or so :specs:. I'm anxious and scared about getting out there. Before nursing school I worked in the same office for 14 yrs, I feel clueless as to what to do on an interview considering I havnt been on one in over 10 yrs and I have no nursing experience. I will stay posted to your thread and c if we get any answers! Good Luck to u...

I am in the same situation. I am reentering after 25+ years. I have just been sending resumes to any place that employees LPN's. I will keep you guys updated and you keep me updated. Hopefully I will get something before to long. Good luck to you both. Positive thoughts!!!!!!!

I got my LPN license a few weeks ago. I'm doing an IV certification course right now and praying for a job. I hope to start the LPN-RN bridge program in May, I'm waiting to find out if I get accepted.

I took/passed my PN back in February. I'm enrolled in an ADN program with anticipated graduation in Dec. I hadn't planned on taking the PN, but when my husband got laid off, I needed to look for work.

Around here (SE WI) LTC's hire the most LPNs and pay the best. Some clinics hire LPNs, but I thought the pay they offered was insulting. I made more as a CNA in the hospital, without benefit of having a license.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

I got a job! (pending background check and physical) I am SO excited. I'll be working in a health clinic (think: free clinic) PRN going to their various sites to work with them all. I'm beyond excited. Not only do i get to WORK but I get to do something I feel really great about (I was dreading having to do LTC for my own personal reasons). I'm passionate about preventative healthcare and education which makes this job downright perfect for me (personal passion, not nursing as i'm not yet experienced enough to say that, lol) Their staff doesnt turnover much and I got the warmest fuzzy feeling from the nurse I interviewed with. I cannot WAIT to start!

Excellent! Good luck in your new role. The job sounds great!
