Butterflies??? Is this normal??

Ok, I just graduated from LVN school and am about to embark on my first year in nursing. Needless to say, I"M SCARED TO DEATH!! :uhoh21: But excited too. I just sent in my first app for a GVN job at a local hospital and I felt like I was going to throw up the whole time I was filling it out. Is this a normal way to feel right out of school?? I guess I would feel better about it if I had some experience in the hospital, but I do not. I was fortunate to not have to work while in school ( thank you hubby ). Any advice/opinions, good or bad, will be greatly appreciated.

Blessings from Texas!!

Absolutely normal! Hang in there...things will fall into place. Best of luck.

Of course it's normal. You just have to put one foot in front of the other and do it. The same way you made it through your clinicals. Good luck!

Honey, I get butterflies when I start a new job, and I've been doing this for a long time! I don't think you'd be normal if you didn't feel a bit nervous and giddy. You'll be fine.

Thanks everyone, I'm starting to feel a little better after reading all the posts here. Seems like everyone feels the same, especially the first year. I guess it's just the fear of the unknown with me. I am just praying to God above that I get a good orientation and a patient preceptor. I have been told by my clinical instructors that I have what it takes to be a GREAT nurse, I just need have more self confidence. I'm know it will come in time. Thanks again!

I still get butterflies whenever I start a new job. Also I always feel like such a dufus after an interview. I keep wondering why my tonque gets caught on my tonsils when I try to interview...LOL.
