Well, I am a first time Nursing student. I am graduating HS this month (May 2010) and going straight into CC on June 21.
However, here is the problem:
In order to be considered for acceptance into the program (which begins in February 2011 and therefore graduates the group in Feb or May 2013 as RNs after we pass the exam), we must have completed all of these prerequisites (preferably with 3.5+ GPA to be considered):
Is there a way I could take half of these classes online? I was thinking Brigham Young or University of Phoenix could wing it. However, I am a little uncertain as I am a freshman in college, and if I do do that, what's going to happen? Two transcripts? Will the staff say anything?
And, also... I am not sure exactly which class is what 'cause most sites label them differently.
Sorry if this is the wrong section, thanks to anyone who could help as I am LA (CA) native.

Your college catalogue should show which classes you can take online. My school allows the ones I put in bold on your list online.
Talk to a counselor at the college you're going to attend. It sounds like you're going to try to cram about 1.5- 2 years of pre-req's into about 8 months? Keep in mind that some schools list those classes with their own prerequisites, and some schools require them to be taken in a particular order. Also, make sure the classes you take anywhere else will articulate to your school's program. Multiple transcripts are fine, as long as the school/program recognizes the classes you took elsewhere as being comparable to the ones they require.
Good luck!

That is a long stretch. I doubt you'll be able to apply for the 2011 application period. A&P and Micro will probably be hard to get into because you aren't going to have priority registration as a freshmen.
2012 is more likely.

To be considered for fall 2011? Impossible task right there. Taking physiology, micro, or anatomy your first semester at a CC is almost impossible because you would have the least priority and those classes tend to fill very quickly. To be more realistic, you probably could do it in 1.5-2 years if you do GE with it as well. You also don't grad as a RN. You got to pass the boards before.

You're probably ok taking any of the nonscience courses online. If you take courses at other schools, then yes you would have transcripts from every college you attend. You would have to submit those transcripts to in order to get transfer credit for them. You could probably transfer credit in from any other accredited colleges/universities, including other California CCs. I doubt any University of Phonenix classes would transfer to a Calif CC though.
Argh. That's a long wait. I got people impatiently tapping their feet for me in Australia and I graduated HS a year early. I knew RN is in demand but I forgot about the prereqs. Should probably switch my major? I can't bear the idea of waiting ~ANOTHER~ four years just for a two year degree.
My father said the same, "You'd be way better taking science and math in the physical environment; unfortunately that's what most of these prereqs are."
And thanks for the Phoenix thing.

There are a ton of California CCs that do lots of online classes. And they are all 26$/unit, SO MUCH cheaper than a private university.. and they're much easier to guarantee transfer credit with.
I went to Las Positas/Chabot for a lot of my GE and did english, psych, nutrition, polisci/history, and humanities online. All of my teachers were great. I was not required to come to campus at all, for any of them. I would recommend registering with Chabot/Las Positas, or some other CC in California that does a lot of online classes.
And I agree with the people above.. you sound a little over-ambitious. Many CCs require biology or chemistry as prerequisites to anatomy/physio/micro.

I understand that. I should probably take the LVN route first, which does begin in Fall 2011. Then I'd upgrade three semesters later. Unfortunately they're about the same length now, I believe. If I did make Fall 2011 RN I'd be C/O 2013; with LVN, I can expect to walk down the aisle June 2012 and then I'd be signed on until December 2013? RN is about the same length, not graduating 'til June or December 2013.
I am just curious why you are in such a rush?
I have been asked this question (or similar ones) many times. More than you can count. "Wow, you're so young!" "Why do you want to do something like this?" To be honest, I enjoy the new freedoms it has given me, and at the same time, I've learned to mature faster while finding it easy to understand young kids, since most my age are quite the reverse.
As for your specific question...
Well, there's many reasons. (Listed in no particular order, of course.)
and there it is

E.O.,
I am a 43 year old mother of three who had the same "get out of school quick" mentality when I graduated High School. I talked to one person who gave me poor advice, but easy advice, that affected the rest of my life. Because of that advice, I chose to go to Medical Assisting school because of it's short program, it would give me the "freedom" I wanted, sooner. I was bright enough to go to a four year college, just not patient enough. After working for years as an MA, I was bored (dipping urines, taking BP's, etc), unchallenged, and was making less than half of what my RN peers were making (check pay scales LVN vs. RN and think of all the years you'll have to pay bills vs. the extra year of school). As a result, I am now back at school persuing my RN degree, while raising kids and paying bills. Life is alot harder....50x harder than it would have been doing this 20 years ago.
Don't limit yourself because you want to work now. You have 40+ years to work....one extra year or two of school now will pay 1000 fold over the next 40 years. Be patient.....go as far as you can now, while it's easy and you will have so many more opportunities later.
Just my two cents.
