Hi all! I just got accepted into Sacramento State's Spring 2015 nursing program! I have only one co-requisite left, nutrition, that needs to be completed by next fall. I am planning to take it online next semester. Do you think taking an extra class like nutrition during my first semester will be difficult? Should I wait to take it during the summer?

The online nutrition class that I took turned out to be the most labor intensive course I have ever taken, before, or since. I would try to get it done before nursing school. Chances are high that your course will also include online research/submissions/responses to other students and lots of writing, every week. Anything like the course I took, and you will be spending too much time on nutrition that would be better spent on nursing material.

I would try to take it in the summer, or if there is a winter intercession option, check that out. The first semester is a HUGE adjustment, and adding additional courses would be setting you up for failure.

If you were to take nutrition during nursing school, first semester would be the time, as the program will only get more intense. However, if you're going to take a class in summer, online is a nice way to do it and still enjoy your summer As for nutrition being "hard," I think it depends on the instructor (mine was an easy 4.0).

I wouldn't recommend it. Better to take it in the summer.
