First semester of nursing school: done!

Nursing Students General Students

OMG! So I haven't been on this app long; but I have yet to see anyone talk about repeating a class. I actually started nursing school in the summer; brutal! Unfortunately, I did not pass fundamentals! It was very upsetting. All those study hours, tutorials and late nights of stress and study sessions and no nights out! However, this semester re-taking it made all the works of a difference!

Yes, it sucks watching your real cohort moving forward without you....but I have learned to keep on moving! I thought to myself oh gosh I failed funds? There's no way I'll pass med-surg, peds etc!

I feel ready now more than ever! & I know a lot of us are taking finals right now...& if you are one of the students who may have to repeat fundamentals or whatever class please do! If this is what you want to do and it's in your heart...it can be done! Please don't give up! You will want to; but take this as your sign. You will learn so much from yourself and your full potential :)

I am so happy that this class is out of the way and I am so ready to dominate the rest of my courses. Take a failure as a challenge, to get up, wipe those tears and try again. I am fortunate enough to choose my career and I and I hope you all get through this process! :)

You can do it and good luck to everyone with finals 

Nevergiveup, love your attitude :) you can do it! It's gonna be hard but once you get into nursing school and are introduced to new learning experiences, patients, fellow nursing students it's amazing and worth the fight and hard work you have been doing :D good luck to you!

It is so worth it!! I love all the patients so far (except one) that I have been encountered with! Have you ever just had that connection with a patient that is like no other? Like I would never give that feeling up! I can't get that working at a grocery store! I love people! You really do learn how to answer questions. We had to take a proctored ATI test and my nursing professor (she is the sweetest) goes "Don't put what you think the answer is, put what the test wants". We all start laughing because once you are in nursing school you understand that! I will miss my nursing peeps for the year but once I get back in I will be a new person and better nurse! Good luck to the next few semesters!

Congrats! I'm glad that re-taking the class has been a positive experience!

I have two more weeks left of my first semester. My finals are on the 17th and 18th. To be honest, I feel like next semester will be a wake up call to my classmates and myself. I'm not going to say that this semester was a breeze, but it will be, by far, the easiest we're going to have. We take the pre-reqs along side of the nursing classes. This semester we had Nursing Math (Calc & Dosages), Med Term, and A&P.

Next semester starts Diet & Nutrition, Applied Chemistry, Fundamentals, and Pharmacology. Some classmates are barely getting through this first semester, and while I've done well, I know I have to work out some better study habits. I study, but not as effectively as I need to be.

Thanks! && yes that is so very true! There is nothing like connecting with patients. Every patient I have, makes me more determined and driven to learn all that I can to be the best nurse I can be for them :) we are so lucky to be going into this profession

Augurey,

That is so interesting how you guys mix up the classes like that but at least subjects like A&P will be fresh on your mind! I took a&p1 and 2 about a year before I got into nursing school. Good luck on your finals next week! I'm sure your going to do well :)

Congrats. you can do it. Im no einstein and infact If i were to rate my performance in nursing school it would be a C

so if a dum dum like me can make it so can you!

Congrats! I have finals for fundamentals next week, then on to Med-Surg in the spring. I'm excited, anxious, nervous, and a little scared; but I'm using all that to motivate me.

Our program only let's you retake one class if there is a spot available, so I'm hoping if that happens I save it for critical care or ob. Though, my professor said they lose more students in med surg than they do in fundamentals.

I have to retake A&P1 missed it by two points! its cool to see that i am not the only one to have to re take classes. I was thinking the same thing, i failed this class how in the world am i ever going to pass the other classes or even the nursing classes. I was beating myself up really bad for it. Anyways its cool to see im not alone :woot:

I like everyone's post. Never give up and go for what you want.

Thanks everyone! Y'all are so encouraging :) && seeing a lot of my friends graduating or already in classes like psych that failed a class is motivating. You can do it and bounce back from getting knocked down! :)
