First nursing position doubts

Hey all! I am in a predicament and I'm not sure if everyone goes through this or it's just me. I have accepted my first nursing job and I am having some major doubts. I'm not sure if the doubt comes from normal first nursing job jitters or if I've made a terrible mistake. I went on several interviews and essentially took the offer that was financially sound for my current situation. Although the hospital is top notch and the position will be a great learning experience (much out of my comfort zone), I feel my decision may have been a hasty one in order to leave my current non healthcare related job and to finally get started in the field after being out of school for some time. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Give it a chance. You are going to have jitters the first job. My first job I thought I'd made a huge mistake even becoming a nurse! Lol good ole days.. In 6 months you may love it! I highly recommend giving it at least 6 months.

There's no easy way to put this...

It really doesn't matter where you start. No matter where you start, your first year as a nurse is going to be very hard psychologically and vocationally. You are about to take on a professional, licensed, responsibility that is most likely greater than any you have ever had (outside of motherhood or unless you were a military commander or airline pilot). The responsibility is going to feel crushing to you. And it won't matter where you are. It sounds like this is a good as place as any to work, and they pay. I say, make the most of it.

On the bright side, you will become very competent. You will survive, and you will be a greater person than you have ever been, most likely. And when you are competent and efficient, you will be very proud of yourself, and you will probably never be able to get nursing out of your blood after that.

So dive in. Do your best. Have courage. Have faith. And in a year, the world will be your oyster. You can go work anywhere.

The only thing better about the first year of work compared to the last year of nursing school is that you get paid. Other than that it is terrible and you still feel super stressed. If you can handle it keep hanging in there.
