I had my PCT 10 years ago...got out of the workforce to raise my kids. Now I am back in nursing school and wanted to get back into a hospital. Had my first interview (in 10 years), and then a 2nd interview for a specific job on the Peds unit at the only Magnet hospital in this area of the state/surrounding states. They called today and offered me the job!
I am so surprised! I havent had my certification in 8 years (it lapsed) but found out they dont care if you have it or not. They just want you to have experience (I only have 3 months worth, from 10 years ago, which is less then they usually look for)...I still am in shock they hired me. They also have a program that will pay for over half of my BSN.
Eeeek!
Anyone else here work on a Peds floor? This unit is small, the main Childrens hospital in town gets most of the peds cases...so this unit also takes adult surgical, and has a small PICU attached that I will be helping in, so it will be a really well rounded experience. I am so nervous but so excited at the same time!
