I'm really excited my first clinical day is on Friday this week:yeah:. I was wondering if anyone had any words of wisdom!

Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions and try to observe anything and everything. Don't be nervous and just enjoy the experience! Have fun and good luck! Oh yeah, and when you get to the facility grab some alcohol pads to put in your pocket-just in case you need it or a nurse you are with needs one.

Introduce yourself to your nurse and tell her what you are allowed to do. If something that you are able to do needs done....do it without being asked first. That will tell them you are self-sufficent. Make yourself available and if you have nothing to do at the moment, see if your classmates need a hand with anything. Above all else...soak everything up like a sponge. Remember you are there to learn as much as possible. And have fun!!

Ask questions
Be prepared (Like what ICU geek said: alcohol in pockets, tape, pen light, scissor)
Look up everything you don't know (meds, diagnosis, procedures, etc)
OBSERVE
Let the nurse you are assigned to know what you are allowed to do
Help your fellow classmates
Listen in if you can when doctors come for rounds
SMILE
Take every opportunity you can!
There will be a lot to absorb and see...GOOD LUCK and have FUN!
