Hey everyone!
I am currently in the FNP program at Maryville University and living in Maryland.
I have to find preceptor beginning in Fall of 2018 and am having problems really getting started. I am currently on leave from school because I am pregnant and due to delivery in October. I will be going back to class in mid Spring 2018 and will be expected to have had my preceptors established by then. I have asked a couple NP that I have previously worked with in the hospital setting but their network has been limited to inpatient (my program caps specialty and inpatient hours) whereas I need outpatient.
The first clinical is 80 hours, being able to perform adult health histories and head to toe assessments in a clinical setting (inpatient acceptable). The clinical would be take place in Fall of 2018. Then second and third clinical is 215 hours each, being able to perform full health history, head to toes exams and develop assessment and plan (outpatient only). The clinical would be taking place Spring and Summer 2019. The last clinical is 70 hours women's health and 165 pediatric hours being able to perform full health history, head to toes exams and develop assessment and plan(outpatient only). The clinical would be taking place Fall of 2019.
Anyone have any suggestions or leads?
Thanks!

Honestly, the best thing to do is print off your resume, search for outpatient clinics in your area (or whatever you need), dress nicely and go visit those places in person. I've had much better success that way instead of calling places.

Did you ask to speak with the provider or just with office manager? I'm in a bind and need a preceptor this semester. We can't proceed with actual clinicals until October 22nd, but I don't have anyone yet. Tiny secluded towns are hard.
