I start my LPN program in August of 09, currently finishing up my college prequisites. The program I attend is 9 months. I could choose to take it in 4 semesters which is a 2 year program, but at 45 and my kids now grown, I felt I could do it. Does anyone advise against this, or is it mainly an individuals ability to succeed at this pace? I have decided to take on additional Biology classes that are not required for the LPN program so I could understand terminology better.
My LPN program is a vocational school. I did all my perquisites at the local state college who also has an LPN program, but the State college is 7,000.00 the vocational school is $5,000.00 both have the same accreditation with the State of Colorado. Shop around for price. More is not always better, besides the colleges have so many students that you don't get the same instructor student ratio which can be an important issue when you research your schools.
Good luck
The school that has accepted me right away.. is Keiser and it's $6500 a SEMESTER! I'm so nervous about the price.. I'm not sure if to start now and I'll begin working by next year as an LPN, OR finish my prerequisites at Miami Dade college and try to apply for the RN program that starts in August and from what I hear is A MISSION to get into to! I'm so nervous!
I live in WV and my first day of lpn school is Monday, Jan. 5th and I am beginning to get pretty nervous. I will also be turning 35 yrs old the same day!!!! I have 2 children ages 7 and 10. Life will be very hectic for us over the next 11 months.
Class is Mon-Fri from 8 to 3:30, we do get 3 weeks of break. Graduation is already scheduled for Dec. 18, 2009. I hope all goes well. My tuition all together is a little less than $5000.

I start school March 19th 2009, LPN program in Florida. A little nervous but not much. We have been informed to purchase our math book in advance because our first test is the first day of class on chapters 1-5 Math for Meds. I assume this is to start weeding out the one's who are less serious by seeing who actually studied for the test. Or it could be an indication of how tough the course might be. Anyone else have a five chapter math test on their first day?
