Finally I am an RN!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello to all of my allnurses friends. Here is my Story I took my Nclex the first time June 30th I didn't pass with all 265 questions. I was so devastated it hurt very miuch but with God and my Family I was able to pick up the pieces and go on to study. I started studying very hard on july 5th. I used kaplan qbank/qtrainers, and I used Hurst review, saunders book by reading 2 chapters a day, and I also did the first 18 chapters of the Lacharity book. Well today I took my NCLEX exam and it shut off at 125 questions and got the good pop up. I was thinking to myself idk if I passed or not but I felt the test wasn't bad like the first one I took and I believe it was because the hurst really did help me! I love hurst and I believe it prepared me well enough to pass! I just want all the other people out there who have to take this test more than once to know that they can pass it. Just don't give up, and have that fighting spirit and also It wouldn't of been possible without God and Jesus holding me up every step of the way. I never would of made it without them. I also want to say a big thanks to my mom she was always there supporting me. She is always my biggest fan and I am so glad that I was able to make her proud! She is truly an Angel and best mom that I could ever have. I also want to give another big thanks to a lady name Karen! She is also an Angel from God, that helped me greatly! It can be done my future Nclex takers. I also want to thank all of the people from allnurses for tips and encouragement. God bless yall and I give all my glory to God! Liyah24 RN :redbeathe:yeah::)

wow I just love the fact that you give God and Jesus Christ his glory. Long story short, I'm in my early 30's and have been a cna (home health) for years. I spent alot of my early 20's messing around having "fun". Well got on academic probation, left school worked full time as cna, got back in school, changed major. After several years of growing up, in 2007 in church new years eve I prayed for a change. Well that was almost 4 years ago and I can say he has not left me yet. I have maintained a high GPA in Sociology and will be graduating in dec 2011.

Your text was so inspiring to me, now I'm on another mission. Either way I planned on going back to school for another 3 or 4 years to earn a masters. However, my dream job would be to promote health, study diseases, work with diversity, study human biology, patient education, and council patients. I always knew what I wanted to do but didn't know what professional did it. I thought of medical social work, however, looking at the master degree program I realize they don't study diseases, promote health, and human biology like I want to. I'm thinking about attending the same school and going for my BSN. I love the what a public health, patient education coordinator, or even a diabetes specialist does.

One question for you since you are a nurse (and CONGRADULATIONS). I have to take both A&P, 2 chimistry, microbio, and a college level math. should I take them one at a time and streatch my pre-req for 2 years? Or is it doable to take a&p and chem at the same time while working 20 hours a week as a cna?

congrats Liyah24!!! I was wondering if you also did the video review from hurst and if you found it helpful. I am currently studying for my second time... Hope you find a job soon so all that work will finally pay off

Thank you thisonedude! Yes I used the video review I watched them over three times and really looked at the notes that they give. I really believe that it helped me alot and you will have no problem passing the Nclex and I also practice the questions that were in the packet as well. I felt like hurst really made everything make sense.

Thank you tishluvnc! What I personally did was take a&p one semester and chemistry the next I stretch my Pre-req for 2 years, but thats just me because I wanted to make sure that I could dedicate all my time to the science classes so I made sure I did science classes separate each semester now you can take other basic classes like math with a science class in a semester but never double up doing chemistry and micro, A&P in the same semesters unless you feel like you can handle it personally I didn't think I could so thats why I stretched it out. You will not have any problems doing your pre-reqs or anything with nursing I can feel the passion that you have for helping others by reading your post. You will make an awesome nurse!

Congrats!
