Finally got a job in a Boston Hospital!!!

Specializes in Surgical Telemetry.

Finally!!! There is hope for you I promise!!! I moved to Boston from Philadelphia last January as a new grad and could not find a job in a hospital. So I decided to look on Craigs list and I came across a position for an Adult Day Health Center minutes from where I lived in the South End. I picked up the phone and called right away and they brought me in for an interview. It wasn't what I was looking for but it was a paycheck and 7:30-3:30 PM mon-fri. So I worked there and continued to apply to hospitals. I recently revamped my resume and put my experience (which was only a couple months) that I had as a surgical telemetry RN at the top and put that it was a teaching hospital etc. To make a long story short, I made a few changes which I believe finally landed me a position in a Harvard teaching hospital on a med/surg floor and I am ecstatic!! I feel like it has been forever and I can not wait to get back to bed side nursing! Every position has it's pros and cons but just starting out in my career I need to be in a good teaching hospital. I could have given up a long time ago and just said that it was too hard to get into a hospital but I kept pursuing what I really wanted and it PAID off $$$!! There is hope, don't give up it will happen for you too!! Feel free to email me or ask me questions. I turned to allnurses when I was in need and researching for information on Boston hospitals and how to get in!! I also started my own meetup Boston Nursing group if you would like to join and come meet up for drinks!!

Hello,

I am so very happy to hear that! I am just at the begining of myself even though I was "almost" a registered nurse back in Poland years ago. I decided to return to this rewarding profession and trying to enroll into accelerated program. I keep reading analysis that we still have a shortage of nurses and that we will need even more nurses in the future. At the same time I am reading posts that it is so hard for graduates to find a job. Your post is so encouraging and positive!!! I am determined and as long as I am everything will work out!! I am sure about it!

Congratulations!!!! That's AWESOME. Perseverence does pay off!

I am not a nurse (yet, finishing up rereqs!) but I manage a dayhab program, very similar to ADH! :D

When do you do meet-ups?! I'd love to meet some more people in the area! :-)

I sent you a PM. I am too interested in meet-ups!!

How wonderful for you! :yeah: At last, there is hope after all!

That is great news! I'm graduating in May and moving to Boston to join my fiance. I'd love to have info on your meetup group. I'll be looking for new friends in the area :)

what a nice post!! Congrats to you! I agree, Craigslist is great--I check it every day and I have to say that I just got an offer from a posting I initially saw there. Please send me info about a meet up--what a great idea!

That is so awesome! i too am moving from New Jersey (worked at Jefferson in PA) to Boston and i have been searching and found nothing yet. This was definately great motivation to continue searching.
