UPDATE!! Sorry my fellow nurses I haven't been on here in a while.. But after a whole year of waiting, working 6 months in a neighboring state (AL) AND paying $600 for an LPN refresher course, my GEORGIA LPN LICENSE was finally issued on 1-6-2014!!! I'm excited to finally search for a job in the state that I live in... Any leads on who is hiring in Atlanta or surrounding cities for an LPN with 6 months LTC experience? Thanks!!

Congrats to you! I am from GA and would LOVE to go back, but it doesn't look promising for me. So glad things have worked out for you!!
Thanks!! I had endorsed my LPN license from another state (Indiana) where I attended nursing school. Ga has strict licensing requirements when coming from another state AND being a new nurse. My school only offered 420 clinical hours and GA requires 485 leaving me 65 clinical hours short. So I wasn't eligible for licensing in GA because I didn't meet the requirements. They eventually approved me to take a refresher course, but no one really does LPN refresher courses in GA. Except for the ones you find online and you're responsible for setting up your own clinical. Well, after getting tired of waiting I decided to get my AL license and commute. But I got tired of commuting and decided I'd use my hours from my job in AL as clinical and do an online refresher course. (It cost me $600) to do this. After I finished all of that, GA finally issued my license a year later after being told I was not eligible. I advise any new nurse thinking of moving to Ga to DO your research and make sure you meet ALL off GAs requirements before you have to go through what I did. Sorry so long, it's just that I went through a lot...
Thank you!!!

GA is RIDICULOUS!!! We thought about moving there before. Then I researched their BON and their requirements. We decided against it. I'm sure there are plenty of others who did the same thing. I know we have had several Nurses post their frustrations when it comes to working with the GA BON on a whole host of issues. Good luck to you and your career in GA.

Welcome to Georgia! Hate that it took so long and so much hassle but we're glad you're here! Anyway, there are several LTC facilities in and around Atlanta, but one of the biggest employers of LPNs is a very large allergy and asthma clinic (19 locations all over the Atlanta area, 200+ staff) so check that out also.
Thanks so much I've applied to a few LTC facilities and plan to apply to more!! I will look into the place you're speaking of... Thanks again!!!

Smart choice, not the best wages here in GA.
