Nursing Students Excelsior

Well I'm finally enrolled and I made the October 1st deadline :) Now it's time to get busy with my studying for Health Safety. Wish me luck!! I'm on my way to RN

Hey FLT Medic, Good Luck with your studies! We can do this!! Will you be taking Information Lit through Excelsior??

Specializes in ICU,ER, Radiology, Online education.

So do you have to be accepted to the nursing BSN program in order to beat the october 1st deadline or just be accepted at the college. I have science credits over 30 years old also chemistry and would hate to have to retake them if i decided to pursue excelsior. I was accepted there in 1995 in the BSN program, started it but never finished it. I wonder if this would count? Also if you beat the deadline does it matter how many ACE credits transfer in?

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

There are different rules for the LPN-ASN/RN program vs. the RN-BSN program. You can use more ACE credits for the BSN program than you can for the ASN program (as it is a percentage of total credits, obviously BSN has a higher credit requirement than ASN)

You must be enrolled before the deadline of October 1st to be grandfathered in to the current requirements. If you enroll on or after October 1st, you will be required to meet the updated requirements. When you are accepted is irrelevant to the enrollment deadline for updated requirments. You can be accepted on Sept 30th and enroll the same day and be grandfathered into the current requirements. You could have been accepted Dec 2, 2011, but if you hold off and enroll on or after October 1, 2012, the new requirements apply to your program.

Once Excelsior received my transcripts, it was only a few days before my preliminary evaluation was completed. I enrolled the next day to make the deadline. I enrolled last week. I'm sure they are slightly busier right now with the rush to meet the deadline.

I'm going to take Info. Lit. through Penn Foster College if the advisors approve it. I saw the info on a reply someone has sent me here in the Excelsior thread. I sent the advisors a question to confirm we can use the Penn Foster College Info. Lit. class for the credit. Penn Foster offers Info. Lit in a 1 - 2 day format that costs $70.00 for the 1 credit course. If I can save some money and time I'll definetly use the opportunity well!
