CLEP for Humanities
I haven't taken a CLEP exam before. Would you recommend it for the Humanities requirement? If so, how do you apply for a CLEP exam, and how much time did you study? I'm a little over half way finished with my exams and figured I should go ahead and knock out Humanities now. Thanks, Curt

CPNE Prep...What To Buy and What To Study?
I'm currently about half way through my exams and doing well so far. I haven't been a speed demon, but I have a steady pace that's working for me, scoring A's and B's on my exams. With that being said, I'm looking for guidance on what I should be doing to get ready for my CPNE. Like everyone else I want to pass on my first try. I'm a Paramedic that has never done care plans and never practiced "perfect sterile technique." I've heard of live CPNE prep workshops which I would be interested in attending, but I would also like to know if there are any good video series, or Youtube type videos to get a head start on my assessment and skills. Also, where can I go to learn care planning and documentation the Excelsior way? Thanks in advance for your help! Curt R.

Just got a 37/100 on Micro Practice Exam :..(
I got a 48 on the first practice exam. Studied for 3 more weeks and pulled out an A on the actual test. The Micro exam is slightly tricky the way a lot of the questions are worded. Test taking strategies really helped out on the Micro exam. Good Luck!

Micro Finished onto Health Differences!
I actually took the exam about 2 weeks ago and just now got around to making my post. I wish I remembered specifics to help you out but the exam was all over the place. I honestly thought I was going to get handed a failing grade when the proctor gave me my results page with an A on it. I almost fell over! If you've studied hard it's definetly do-able. The biggest help I could give you would be to read the questions extra carefully and eliminate your "throw-out" answers based on what you've learned from the study guide. Then you only have 2 answers left to reason with. Good luck and soon you will be posting your passing Micro success story! Again, I do know your pain with this test. YOU GOT THIS! GO CONQUER MICRO!

Micro Finished onto Health Differences!
I was sweating the Micro exam pretty hard since it was a ton of information. I took practice exam 1 and scored a 48 when I was about half way through the SG101 study guide. I finished studying and went straight for the exam. Sweating bullets, I was able to pull out an "A" on the exam! I really felt I had bombed the test! Now it's onto Essentials of Nursing:Health Differences. I'm in the Nutrition section and the material seems pretty light after Micro....is there something I'm missing? What should I focus on to study for this exam? Any tips are always appreciated! Oh, and GOOD LUCK to all wrestling with Micro! I know your pain. You can DO IT! Curt R. FP-C

Microbiology!
How much time did you take for Micro? I'm finishing up Health Safety now and taking Micro next. Good Luck with A&P, the exam wasn't too awful for A&P. I'm more stressed about Micro. Curt

Excelsior A&P I/II Completion and Tips!
Well I've finally completed my first exam. I took A&P I/II via ECE. I was scared going into the exam since this was my first exam, and it covers two semesters of traditional class room work. It turned out much better than I expected....I got an A !!!!! Here are a few study tips for anyone signing up for A&P: 1.) Textbook, I got a previous edition of the current recommended text for very little money on Amazon. Get the Text, whether you read it or not, you'll use it for reference, I read every chapter! Ugh! 2.) Study Guides, buy a Study Group A/P study guide or Lisa Arends Guide for A/P. They provide plenty of quizzes and exercises to complete. This will keep you focused on your current chapter. Watch out for Study Group 101 answer keys. I found SEVERAL wrong answers in the answer keys of many chapters. Double check your answers. 3.) Mosby Flash cards.....waste of money to me, wish I had not bought them! I also used VangoNotes for A/P via I-Tunes, it gives you something to review while on a road trip. 4.0 ) Practice exams from Excelsior, I did not use the practice exams since they are $80.00 per test but I had multiple thoughts of taking at least one to see how I was doing. Practice tests are not a bad idea if you feel you are struggling. Take the test about half way through studying. Good Luck, now for a one week break then onto the next class!

Finally enrolled!!
I'm going to take Info. Lit. through Penn Foster College if the advisors approve it. I saw the info on a reply someone has sent me here in the Excelsior thread. I sent the advisors a question to confirm we can use the Penn Foster College Info. Lit. class for the credit. Penn Foster offers Info. Lit in a 1 - 2 day format that costs $70.00 for the 1 credit course. If I can save some money and time I'll definetly use the opportunity well!

Finally enrolled!!
Once Excelsior received my transcripts, it was only a few days before my preliminary evaluation was completed. I enrolled the next day to make the deadline. I enrolled last week. I'm sure they are slightly busier right now with the rush to meet the deadline.

UGGGGGGHHHHHH! algebra
Thanks so much for the information. I enrolled earlier this week, so I'm good on the Oct. 1st deadline. I was looking at the Information Literacy course through Excelsior earlier today and figured I would have to pay $305.00 for the 1 CR course. I'm very glad I saw your post and will definetly look into Penn Foster College...and also StarighterLine as well! Thanks again, Curt ~
