I need help, guys. Badly.
I received a letter form CGFNS regarding my application for CES. They are requesting for the Validation of Registration/License from PRC Philippines.
You see, I came here to Houston with my Mom just a week after the June '09 NLE hence the results weren't out yet. So when I applied for the CES, the requirement (License Validation) was waived by CGFNS. But now, they're asking for it. And I don't know what to do. So frustrating.
I believe someone from this forum mentioned before that Texas BON doesn't require license from the Philippines if you graduated in the last 2 years. I wonder how true that is.
I haven't contacted Texas BON or CGFNS yet. I'm gonna do that on Monday.
For those like me who came to US before they took their professional's oath, how is the process of registering and getting your license? And how long did it take before you had your license? Because this is going to delay again my application for CES as well as NCLEX. It's been almost 8 months since I sent my application for CGFNS-CES. If I'm not mistaken, I can't send the Request for Validation of Registration/License without actually being registered/licensed, right? And I can't get my license unless I take the Professional's Oath, right?
Please advise on what I should, need to do basing from your own experience.
You'll be blessed.
Thank you very much.

hi there.. i actually went through almost the same situation as yours.. i took the nov2008 nle and left manila on february without knowing the results.. when the results came out, i asked someone to get my board ratings (i left him a special power of atty for that before i left) and sent it to me here in US.. i went to the philippine consulate in LA and took my oath there. you just need to bring your board ratings and the oath form from PRC.. i also requested another special power of atty from the consulate so he could process my initial registration with PRC.. i sent the notarized oath form from the consulate, the board ratings, and the new special power of atty back to the philippines.. and that's it.. of course you have to pay the registration fee at PRC.. and they will release your license.. goodluck!

im from texas, and i dont have a philippine license. after i graduated, i went back to texas but i didnt take that route for getting texas license 'coz i knew i had to get cgns and texas board of nursing requires 2 years experience when you're a foreign graduate. instead, i applied for california license (the dont require local license), and i was approved and took nclex and got my california RN license. and then, i endorsed my license to texas and already have my texas license..
hi there! thanks for replying. I called the PRC office in Manila and what they advised me is basically the same as what you have said. But I have a few more questions..:) the board ratings, that's the one given by PRC with your scores from the NLE right? 'cause in my case, I did not ask someone to get it and send it to me. Apparently, PRC sent it to my school, and the staff from my school gave it to my brother when he went to secure my Transcript of records. But, I'm not sure if that is the one.
When you went to the Philippine Consulate in LA, did you have to make an appointment or you just walked in? And aside from your board ratings and oath form from PRC, are there any other documents or requirements needed there at the Consulate? those requirements stated in PRC website (e.g pictures, cedula, documentary stamps) will be needed in the processing of the initial registration with PRC right, not when you take the oath? And, how much did you have to pay, for the oath taking and special Power of Attorney?
I hope I'm not bothering you with this so many questions. I'm just so clueless with this.
Again, thank you very much!^^

If your brother is here in the Philippines, then authorized him to do it for you. You don't need to take the Oath anymore just the actual registration. Find a lawyer there for the Power of Attorney. Print the Verification of license (CFGNS-CES) and send it together with the power of attorney. Include a photocopy of your passport and other IDs. Tell your brother to do the registration first then after he got the number (your license number), he can now apply for the verification of license.
yup the board ratings is the small piece of paper with your scores in the NLE.. about the consulate in LA.. i dont think u need an appointment.. i just went there and u just have to go through their usual process.. i remembered that i did bring my cedula but they did not ask for it.. i just showed them the oath form which i already filled up wit the required picture already pasted.. and the board ratings as proof that i indeed passed the NLE.. and if i remember it right, you need to accomplish the special power of atty in triplicates.. so i also have that.. i paid $25 for the notarized oath form and another $25 for the special power of atty.. they will get all the papers and u have to pay.. then you wait around and they will call u when it's time for you to take the oath in front of the consul.. they'll give you everything you need after taking the oath.. and u can send it to the philippines, the same day.. :yeah:then can ask your brother (if he is the onin the special power of atty) to go to PRC and register for you..i think that's where the document stamps are needed as well 1x1 picture.. though im not entirely sure..
you are welcome.. glad i can hep.. im as clueless as you before.. i have to go twice to the consulate to correctly process everything.. i only brought a scanned copy of my ratings the first time and they sent me home saying i needed to bring the original.. anyway, goodluck!:heartbeat
hey there. thanks for replying. i shared to my mom and stepdad what you went through, and they're actually considering for me to take that route as well. man, if only we knew about this, I would've applied for CA license from the start. I was just wondering how long it took, from the time you sent your application before you were found eligible to take the NCLEX? and the endorsement, how long did it take? and, the requirement "copy of license or diploma that allows you to practice professional nursing in the country where you were educated," that's the diploma received during graduation right? hehe
thank you very much.

Remember though if you have taken local exam you should still declare it and they may require proof
it took me 4 months from the time i sent my application to get my eligibility.. after i received my california license, i endorsed it to texas by applying online. it took me 10 days to get a temporary license (you'll get the permanent after you complete the jurisprudence exam, live scan finger print and verification from california board of nursing.. you have almost 4 months to complete those before you receive the permanent)..
yes, thats the diploma, the nursing diploma from your school.. just photocopy it, and send it to them

CA has a longer process because alot are applying in that state, they thought its an easier and smoother route.
