my feet!!! :(

Hi all! I am new to posting to the site but have been here before. I just got my first RN job and had my first 12 hour shift, and my feet are killing me. I thought my regular shoes like I wore for clinicals would be ok but, definitely not. I am overweight, and I know that some shoes have too narrow soles that cause my feet to "roll" outward. People have told me about Alegrias, and I have looked at other streams about this subject. So, other than losing weight, which is in progress but not soon enough to save my feet, what can I do??

What kind of shoes are you wearing?

Honestly, you get used to it and your feet won't hurt as much. Give it a couple weeks for your body to adjust.

I have danskos which I did not love. Gym shoes often felt great. I had a pair of Birkenstock clogs that were great.

Yes to Alegrias!!! My ortho doc clued me in to these after a knee injury. They're a bit pricey, but well worth it. Lots of support but much cushier than Danskos or Birkies. They have taken over my shoe wardrobe.

thanks all! I was wearing some SKechers work shoes, I bought a pair of Alegrias I am going to try Monday. I also got some knee high support hose. I hope I do get used to it!
