Feeling soo discouraged and upset

Hi allnurses,

I have been taking Kaplan live review classes. I really liked them. I scored 53-60 on my first 3 question trainers. I got a 64% on my diagnostic exam. I am soo upset because I had to take my readiness exam and i ran out of time which resulted in a score of 50%!!!! I am soo upset now. I know I was distracted and I had many things going on. Today is the last day of my Kaplan class. I still have to do the prep that's required after the class is over. If anyone has any words of encouragement or advice it would be greatly appreciated!! Did anyone do really bad on their readiness test and still passed nclex?? Please if there is any hope for me I would like to know!!

Your scores are still great! Don't beat yourself up.. redo the diagnostic and answer the questions how you had them before, don't check your answers!

I have read so many threads regarding Kaplan scores because I, too, am dicouraged at times with my scores because I don't see a score higher than 60. But Kaplan I also heard is harder than the actual NCLEX, and actually - people compare QT6 and 7 most like the NCLEX, relax if you run out of time on the NCLEX they will take the last 60 items and average them out. And with the way the NCLEX is set up you really only have to get half right (50%), so in your case if this were the NCLEX, you would've been ok. But don't aim for a 50! This is why Kaplan aims for 60's+ so you can be extremely confident. Don't get bummed, you're doing great and hey - atleast you are preppin'!

Thanks Rach10388! I was just soo upset! I started the readiness test yesterday and since I had so many distractions going on I ended up suspending the exam and finishing it this morning. I know kaplan wants over 60% and I really need to pass nclex!! Lets see how the rest of my trainers and qbanks go. If I do well in those then I know I should be pretty set to take the boards.

Exactly, my lowest exam scores were a 53. I was basically falling asleep during that one and was so sick. The other two that followed I got a 55 or something and a 58. I was just not into it those days. I was pretty much dry-heaving during the one because I was so sick. But honestly, when I saw that 58 I wanted to jump out my window, but I just said whatever, today just wasn't my day and I obviously wasn't even in the right state to be doing questions.

Keep doing questions, and actually tonight at 10pm eastern at Kaplan has a free mock NCLEX, sign up! I do them every week, and it helps. The tutors are live and answer all your questions!

Don't beat yourself up...get LOTS OF REST! When are you testing?

Good luck on your nclex, you can always do questions on your on and hopefully they will prepare you for the big exam. I know people who have studied on their own and they passed, first try. Hopefully you can too.

I test in FIVE DAYS I can't even tell you how fast my heart is racing, I am soooo nervous, but all of these forums have really helped me build so much courage and confidence
