Feeling overwhelmed

Published

Hi everyone,

I am 25 years old with three kids and taking 4 classes per semester. This is my second semester and I'm taking Anatomy and Physiology I, working with cadavers, and I feel very overwhelmed. I have a GPA of 3.7 but I still don't feel confident. I feel lost in that class, I don't know if I'm overthinking it. Anyone else felt this way and did just fine?

In terms of you feeling overwhelmed... that's perfectly NORMAL! Lolol..... As a mom (who went back to school after a nice career to change careers)...the feeling that you are withholding yourself from your children may be adding to your stress. You're making an investment into yourself to make a better future for them. Keep reminding yourself of this.

And take it LITERALLY 1 day at a time. Of course, a planner, etc etc. but 1 day at a time. Once you get past your pre-reqs, this time will have prepared you well for nursing school.

Best of luck to you!

You are totally right.. small goals first. I have been feeling better lately about A&P.

I am a mom of two, and took A&P I in a summer-mester (second go at it, first was 4 and a half year prior). My eldest was 2.5, and my youngest was 6 months old with terrible reflux, breastfed, and didn't sleep through the night. I spent the whole semeter, having already taken the class one, feeling overwhelmed and like I was going to fail. I made an A, and could have failed the last test and still had an A. Time management was key. Also keeping a really good planner of when things were due so I could focus one what I needed to get done that evening. Study wise I find note cards to be amazing. I found an app for android phones where you could make or search for pre made note cards, and look at them on your phone. I find this to be great and I could be studying note cards on my phone while my 2.5 year old played. You can do it! Just study hard, and focus on small goals instead of the whole class.

That's great! Small goals was something I figured out worked for me during my break from college (I pretty much almost failed out, took 4 years off and am now in my second year back).

You can do it!! Just commit to not giving up and you will get there! I was a bit older than you: 30, when I started prereqs. I had 3 kids.

Long story short: I made it through!

I will admit that I took 1-2 classes about half the time and took full time classes the other half, though.

You can do it!!!
