Feeling like a real idiot

I am still in shock that i failed...yes i only did the PVT but thats pretty damn reliable!! I am never taking that stupid test again!!! I guess school was for nothing cause it looks like i wont be an RN :( :( :( :( :(

I know this probably means nothing but I was in the same position as you a few days ago. I took my skills exam for my CNA & was so unsure of my "patients" blood pressure because it was so strangely low that I walked out of the test after with tears in my eyes, sure that I had failed. I even started figuring out when was the best day to retake it. But then I logged on to get my final results and I had passed.

What im saying is that you have NO idea if you passed or failed until the final, official results come in. Regardless of how "accurate" the pvt is, its still not the final word on the subject.

No matter what the results are, remember why you wanted to do nursing in the first place. As everyone else has said, youve come SO far! We all stumble on our paths every once in a while, you're only a human like the rest of us! I believe in you, if the results aren't favorable, all thats standing in front of your dreams is one test you've already been preparing for & taken.

Please don't give up! It'll all turn out in a positive light in the end!

First, the PVT is NOT 100% accurate. Even from the informal survey on here, it's only about 90% accurate. Even if it IS accurate, you CAN do this again.

Give yourself a few days to have a pity party, but then gather yourself up and get studying. Work on those areas where you have room for growth. Work on the strategies.

How did you feel when you left PV? I was CONVINCED I'd failed, and I dreaded having to go through this all again. I can totally understand why you'd feel that way right now. BUUUUUUTTTTT, are you really going to throw away 2-3 years of nursing school, plus all of the time spent on prereqs? What kind of example are you setting for your kids if you do this, 4mykids04?

Have you ever failed at anything in life? Most of us have, and it's how we rise from the wreckage that shows what we're made of. This is what shows us our strength. Think about trials you've dealt with in the past, and how you've come through them. Dig deep and find your strength. If you could survive nursing school (which is crazy stressful!), you can make it through this.

Best of luck!

You can't let this one set back stop you! Maybe that job was not meant to be. Who knows you could have hated it. Point is, you are not a failure. Nursing school itself is one of the hardest things to get through. You made it through that nightmare. But you can't quit. Think of your children and the better example and life you will provide them. Everyone has set backs or makes a mistake in life. It's how you move forward and learn from those set backs that really count! You can do it! ?
