Ohhhh...the struggles. I have this discussion with my registrar regularly. Me (in my nice nurse voice) "please let me review the immunization records before you allow new students to start school to ensure that they are compliant." To which, her response is "Oh, ok."
Every Monday when I run my report, there may be 4-6 new students in the system. Of which, at least 1-2 are non-compliant. My principal will not exclude, so it is almost impossible to get them to get their shots after they have already started.
The usual response I get is "What difference does it make, if they are homeless, they can enter anyway"
Aye yay yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes they can, however it might just be a little important to know
1) I need to follow up
2) I need to see their file which may have some information until I get their health record
3) Their contact information int the event of a PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know I am preaching to the choir in this forum but at least you guys all listen and empathize instead of shrugging your shoulders and walking away...and if you, at least I cannot see it!

I just found out yesterday, approximately halfway through the school year, that there have been kids coming in for one or two classes a day, EVERY DAY, and I have no knowledge of their existence in our building, thus NO medical information!
ya knoww...important stuff, like IMMUNIZATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
allergies or significant medical history in the event of an emergency, cause who are they gonna call when the ish hits the fan? ME that's who!!!!!!!!!!
Grrrrrrr! And I have addressed this with our guidance department before....I guess I have to take it up the ladder from here.
