Just in case you apply for a VA job, your resume will be vastly different from all others.
It will adhere strictly to the published guideline at https://www.va.gov/vapubs/viewPublication.asp?Pub_ID=464
Having gathered no statistics all of my own, I told stories that demonstrated fulfillment of the 9 criteria.
I'd guess few applicants know how to apply. I believe if you do, you'll have a huge edge.
I applied for USAF direct hire and Fed prison jobs, then the VA months later. Got hired by the VA, still haven't heard from the others.
Psychosocialist - I just submitted an app package for USAF Direct Hire as well! I am also working on the Fed prison job package now. I have created a federal job resume - it is 7 pages long and uses exact keywords that are in the job announcement. Unfortunately, all I have is qualification based on Education - i have a BSN from a major accredited university. I've only been working as an RN for 5-6 months, so I can't use experience. I did work as a nurse tech for about 1 year prior to receiving my BSN.

Hi Nurses, I am an RN, BSN and currently in the beginning stages of applying for federal employment. I have about 3 nurse jobs I have my eye on but I still have to create my federal resume, each tailored to the positions themselves. One of them is for the Dept of the Air Force, another one is for the Bureau of Prisons in a federal correctional facility.
I had a question: For the actual federal resume, which format for the body of the resume have you found is the best bet for submitting to a federal agency? Bullet format, paragraph format, etc. ect? Thanks in advance for any tips you may have.
