Well, it's never too soon to start thinking about this. Anyone else thinking of applying for Summer 2009?
:dzed:I really get the feeling that they are just avoiding a potential barage of phone calls by saying that they letters will go out next week since that is the deadline. Even in past semesters, they said the last week will be when they are sent out- then people got them 20-30 some days after the application deadline~ not that I'm counting but we are now on day 44! They aren't going to tell you, tsnt, anything different then they have told anybody else- never have... because for some reason everything is so darn TOP SECRET! I'm really dissappointed that this office can't seem to get their act together. Furthermore, regardless of this transition to a new director- the dates of the orientation should be determined long before a month and a half before the summer session starts and I think they should be able to provide that over the phone regardless of whether you get accepted or not! Also, I'm not buying the fact that they were waiting to change stationary as their excuse either. They can write it on a roll of Bounty Napkins if they want for all I care! Of course, we have to remember that they are still within their time window and we can be as irritated as we want, but in the end they are holding the letters for our acceptance. We just gotta keep patient for a few more days I guess.
What's going through ya'lls minds?
Sorry to vent... just wanted to get that off my chest.
Hmmm, I agree with most of your rant!
First, as Jacks2009 said, it can't be the name change. Why not? Because it will not be effective until FALL which means we will begin FCCJ NS, not FSCJ NS.
So let's see.....
Imagine 500 applicants for what, 150 slots? If one person evaluated all those applications, to complete the process, they would have to process 16.667 applications per day. That is 2 applications/hr. Then one day to enter into excel and sort by score. Count out the top 25 who wanted eve/we.....then discard other eve/we only apps....count out the top 125 for day....print names. Give to secretary. Type into word (which means the secy only has to change name and addy on the doc and then print. Shouldn't take more than a day. Assemble and mail.
44 days is more than enough time. Besides many of us already had our apps in well before the deadline and they could have begun the processing before the deadline just to assemble the required data.
I understand that the degree is competitive.....it doesn't need to be classified secret! I see the 60 day window as a way to procrastinate. Inefficiency kills me! Besides, we are supposed to be entering a field that is going to require multitasking to the max AND learning LOTS and FAST....why should the admin be expected to behave any differently?
I understand that they can't tell me that they have mailed out or will be mailing out the letters, but like you said, they really should know when orientation will be scheduled to take place. They told everyone that it will take 8 weeks to start mailing out acceptance letters, but I think we all got accustomed to reading that letters usually went out within 4 weeks and as such started making plans. Yes, call it counting chickens before they hatch if you will. But now we're almost at the end of march and we're trying to make other plans, travel, school, daycare, working etc based on their decision. At least knowing when orientation would be would allow me to make travel plans around that date. I can't figure why that would be such a big deal. Forgive me..... I'm also venting.
I guess it's just annoying because they know how rushed we are going to be trying to get everything done... hopefully they have some kind of good reason for the hold up, I just wish they would fill us in on it so we would stop trying to guess what the hold up is...on a positive note, just think how excited we will be when we open the mailbox and there is actually a letter in it!
ok picture this…a big balloon is full of helium and you let go in the air. that's how i feel. on february 1st i was full of excitement and anticipation but each day it has been released bit by bit. this being the 3rd week of march and not knowing anything but having so many life changing decisions to make i am completely empty.
ok i'm done feeling sorry for myself and will continue to wait by the mailbox. =)
this will only make us stronger and closer as a class. i am really glad we have this site. imagine if we were going through this alone.
Wow. I applied for the summer program just like you guys. I called the office at the begining of this month and I was told the 3rd week of March. I was begining to wonder if anyone else had heard back yet, so I googled 'fccj summer 09' and this board came up. It is good to know that I am not the only one who is frustrated that it is taking forever to send our letters out.

Well then I guess orientation will not be until May then. This is ridiculous!! I really wish I had other options, but I need to go to FCCJ for my RN, so I guess we all have to just sit and wait. Doesn't mean I have to be happy about it though.
